Sometimes you just get a cool sound from an usually basic synth, and make a song out of it, and that's how I got the bass and the first lead (by the way, I recommend experimenting with FMing waveforms other than sines, as it can give pretty cool results). The unusual thing is that I came up with a great title just after creating the beginning, probably because this oldschool-sounding synth played in a pentatonic scale reminded me of Jean Michel Jarre's Oxygene 3 (seriously, I did not intent it to sound so similar). However, I can say that the distorted, gliding synth in the calm section was "inspired" by one of Caustic's demo songs...
If you were wondering what that strange synth synced with the drums is, it's a vocoder vocoding the drums. And... I think it was a mistake to put delay on it, as it kinda clutters the song... Whatever, I have no idea how to mix and master anyway.

Here is an explanation why my and many others' music can't be used yet in GD: https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1419782
Sorry for such a late reply, haven't logged in since 8th of January, thus I didn't notice this comment until today.
I've used caustic a few times before switching to ableton and mastering on that thing is like magic. One of the songs I've submitted for NGADM got a perfect score for mastering while I was using it. But anyway, There's too much bass and it's washing out the main melody that you're going for here. I almost couldn't tell that this piece was in 3/4. The phrasing is more similar to how you would in 4/4. Not every part needs to be moving, especially the bass. It's supposed to support the melody so mainly stick to roots, 3rds, and 5ths so it doesn't sound like baroque music with a drum machine. Definetly needs more work with the mastering and the phrasing. I know caustic has that new thing where you can lock the key but try moving scale degrees within the key.
That's all I have to sayy byeee
Well, it's actually in 6/4...
To be honest, I have no idea what am I doing. I have barely any knowledge of music theory, and not enough patience, experience and proper equipment to do decent mixing and mastering. I just kinda mess around with synths and melodies. I've also noticed, that the song is a bit cluttered with the bass, but didn't really know how to fix that without making it sound "too quiet" for me.
Still, thanks for the comment, constructive criticism should be appreciated.
