I've never played Chrono Cross, and I'm sure a great deal of people are on the same boat as I am. But also in that boat is a large group of people that despite never having playing CC, are deeply and emotionally attached to the game's OST. It's ethereal, haunting, dreamlike, and human. Having been listening to the entire OST, I can firmly state that there is no soundtrack out there quite like it. It's quite literally in a world of its own.

I think The Dead Sea, both thematically and soundtrack wise, exemplify this the greatest. It has such power and impact despite having a very soft and dreamlike composition. There's something about the song that is just very slightly unsettling, and yet satisfying to listen to.
