This is awesome! I just think some instruments and synths at some points sounded really weird and didn’t really fit well. Besides that, melodies were good, mixing was good. Great work!
So I've been busy as of late, as you could probably tell. Between the AIM, NGADM, and the recently-concluded NGUAC (preferable with NSALSA for your NCHIPS), I've had not too much time to make songs. But as of recently, I've been trying things with the time I've had in music making. Thus, the time that I've put in so far comes together in this.
This is the second song I've done (other than And Falling) that's written in 5/4, with a 4/4 ending. Not only that, but it's made primarily for percussion instruments, because we're cool too. I went for a kind-of Defend tamber, but of course only within percussion and with new tactics. For example, all of the post was not done in Audacity, but rather in Ableton, using their EQ Three to bring out the bass frequencies and a Compressor following that to keep the dB around 2.0 max. I also played around with the reverb decay times, giving each instrument varied times and even automating some of them, along with automating the wet/dry setting for some instruments.
This is something very different, but I like it. As suggested by the title, this is for the 2019 Newgrounds Remix Competition (ahh it feels good to be a competitor again), and like last year, I played around with the time sig. Unlike last year, though, this required not only a melody but specific chords, which I kept mainly on the vibraphone (VibroMaster, if anyone's interested). I used quite a bit of the things I've learned as a judge of NGUAC in this piece, and it shows here.
it feels so good to be back
