Hey my peeps!!

I'm glad to announce I'm bringing to Newgrounds first the release of my brand new single and dance anthem "The Frizz" which will soon be available on Spotify, iTunes, Play Music and all mayor music platforms.

I consider this one of my best productions to date and could potentially become my signature track.

The idea behind this song was to make a track that involves the audience in some way, which is the poing of "the game" at the beginning of the song. I was also aiming for an Electro/Dance song similar to my track "Fine Tuning" (which was very well received), but adding a Trance break, which is the genre for which I am better known.

Here are the vocals:

Ladies and Gentlemen
Welcome
Name of the Game
is "The Frizz"

The rules are quite simple
You dance to the music
And when the beat stops
You freeze and hold the
position you were in
when you were dancing
until the beat starts again

Are You Ready?
DJ
Drop the Beat

Hope you enjoy dancing to it as much as I enjoyed making it ;)

The minimal bass line at the beginning and string drone at the beginning helped set the mood pretty well. The vocals were a good idea, although I think the recording quality could be better. I liked the minimal beat at :29. It was catchy, and the filtering helped keep things engaging. The open hat at :52 is a little generic, but the texture starts filling out a little more during the 2nd minute. Some of the synths are pretty cliche, but the production is clean and crisp. I also liked the atmospheric bridge at 1:29. The ABA structure of the piece between the rhythmic and atmospheric sections was effective, although I think you could’ve fleshed out the composition a lot more here. The harmonic progression isn’t very original, the texture is thin throughout, and the piece has almost no melodic content, sense of storytelling, or directionality. Strong work overall with the production quality, fun vocal samples, and rhythmic content, but the lack of creativity in the arrangement and harmonies hurt you a bit here. Keep at it, JohnnyFrizz! :)

I really like this piece and love the drop about 1:40 to 1:50 ish its a nice effect I think you could have had more of those drops on this throughout the whole piece but overall this was cool I like your effort and energy in this one keep up the great work.

JohnnyFrizz responds:

Thank you for the nice review and the suggestions my friend!

The quality is definitely enveloped in this kickin' catchy masterpiece. The bouncing mainline definitely carries this track throughout giving an insatiable desire to dance. Again, the command presence is very prevalent in that bassline.

The idea of dancing, then stopping and then back to dancing really works well for what you produced this track for with minimalism. You definitely made a vast improvement fixing the repetition and created more variation progressing this danceable tune into a great climax. Again, the supporting/harmonizing synth that comes in around 1:28 really carries this track into my favorite part with those smooth pads at 1:57, which really opens this track. That short build up around 3:05 sounds much cleaner and natural feeling with the filtered/phased build up making it sound more dynamic.

Overall man, this definitely sounds 10x better than the initial release. Incredible work and one hell of a banger, Johnny!

JohnnyFrizz responds:

Thank you my man! It really means a lot coming from you! Most appreciated :)

The Frizz, hah, I do like the idea! XD The beat didn't stop nearly enough to really make a game out of this, though the little stops it did have were unexpected, considering the wholesome waveform otherwise. Was thinking it wouldn't be a challenge at all with the NG player, but they're still camouflaged pretty well here. Short bits.

Overall it flows together well. The sound quality feels balanced, the variation's definitely there, the rhythm and all keeps you pretty hooked in. Reminds me of house/dance around the millennium, not so much the newer stuff, but maybe there's a lot of this still being made that I just don't hear. Feels like the that saw-like sound's not so common. That it's more drawn-out and reverby these days. But what do I know. Gives me a good dose of nostalgia that way though!

A blast to listen too! Good stuff.

JohnnyFrizz responds:

Thank you so much for the awesome review brother! I actually made a far longer version of this, the Club Mix, which has a lot more stops, I will put a link on the description for you to check it out ;)

Cheers!

Much fun indeed. :)

JohnnyFrizz responds:

Thank you! :D
