Hello Voice Actors of Newgrounds! And hello to anyone else who happens to stumble across this audio post.
I am Peregrinus, and I am delighted to announce the launch of the twelfth Newgrounds Voice Acting Contest. This is the first such contest run since 2013, with the previous eleven spearheaded by FatKidWitAJetPack and JaShinYa between 2009 and 2013. This is also the first voice acting contest since the launch of the voice acting forum in December 2014.
This contest will start March 15th and run until April 15th at 1159 PM Eastern Daylight Time. As this contest ends on the same day for the tax filing deadline in the United States, the theme for this contest is "A fool and his money are soon parted". Contest submissions should be between 2 and 6 minutes in length, and should stick to the theme. While the theme takes a jab at taxes, the interpretation of the theme is up to you, the voice talent. Submissions should incorporate three different characters by the same voice artist, in order to showcase the artist's ability.
The complete rules are in the topic as linked below [above transcript] or available in the voice acting forum of the BBS.
In the past, prizes for the winners included store credit for the Newgrounds store. Unfortunately, the store has since been closed, so I'm modifying the prize pool a little for this revival round:
The top three winners of the contest will receive one of the following audio software, in winners order: ACID Pro 7, Acoustica Mixcraft 8, and Sound Forge Audio Studio 12. The top three winners will also get a spot on the front page of Newgrounds! And in what I believe is a rare occurrence, everyone in the top ten will get a month of Supporter status, so they can browse Newgrounds ad-free and enjoy some of the other site perks, such as the Newgrounds Chat and the Supporter forum. Yes, you heard that right, 10 winners.
A fool and his money are soon parted: the total value of the software is around $250, with the first place ACID Pro 7 being valued at $150 USD. Consider entering this voice acting contest, and this fools money could find it's way to you in the form of audio software.
A big thank you to LexRodent for allowing me to use some of his music, titled Revolt! A link to the music is available in both the sidebar to the left of your screen, and linked in the author comments. Thanks as well to Tom Fulp for providing a month of honorary supporter status to the winners.
