Hey NG, Here it is...the last stand... (probably against zombies!) Enjoy and comment! :D~

Loving it

Been listening to this song all day so i thought i'd give you a review, which i dont normally do.

I'll start with what i dont like and then move on to what i did like.

So i guess i'll start with the opening, which was the only reason i gave originality a 7, the riff really reminds me of coheed and cambria, however i will give you the benefit of a doubt that its most likely coincidense.

Now the one problem i have with this song is that it would have sounded amazing if the drums were live recorded rather than a drum machine it would have given the piece alot more soul, although as far as i'm aware drums can be tricky to record when your not in a studio environment. But the actual patterns itself i loved.

I agree with you that flat out vocals are never necassery for a song and alot of the times can ruin a song, however this track can be a little repetetive and i keep thinking that something simple like sampling a scream with loads of effects on it or something could have given the piece more longlivity (Thats the only word i could think of :S) but yeah lyrics in this case = bad idea.

And i love every aspect of everything except the minor things mentioned.

Can't help but wonder about the relationship between this and the flash game the last stand though.

Great work, i'm not a big fan of your punk stuff (Not just yours specificly but im just not a big fan of punk) but im in love with anything that comes from you that involves a synth.

I don't review very often because normally when i do i make a monster like this and just cant seem to stop typing, i dont know alot of newgrounds audio artists but your right up there with cornandbeans and paragonx9 in my top favorites after hearing this.

I really can't understand why at the time of this writing this song doesnt have more than a 4 point score.

Ok now i'm really going to stop typing... Now.

Evil-Dog responds:

Wow thanks for the complete review :)

The opening riff is indeed rather simple and repeated a lot...I just liked the mood it created but yeah I'm sure it resembles a lot of things...but I've never heard of coheed and cambria so it's a coincidence, I'd never copy someone else's riff anyway.

I wish I could have a real drum too, the sampled drums annoys even me now...hehe

I agree about the kind of non-lyrical vocals that could have made the track better...the scream would have been a very good idea :)

There's really no relationship between this song and the game "The Last Stand" except the name...and zombies...the music reminded me of 28 days later when I was making it...hence the name and mention of zombies hehe

For the score I guess this piece doesn't really reach people...oh well!

Thanks for the nice review dude
see ya around :)

No Voice?

It was amazing. I loved the opening . . It did get a TINY bit boring but then . . I was waiting for it . . The voice entry, but I was disapointed when I heard none. Other than the fact that there was no voice it was still good. I liked it and may download it but please add voice next time.

Evil-Dog responds:

Nah I don't make music with voices, I make music for people to use in their movies and games.

Great mix too, the bass sounds awesome (whatever it is).
I've got my speakers way up and it is niiice.
