First Snow

This is a sweet little tune that I wrote during the first snow storm we had this winter. First Snow is part of my album made up of fun synth driven tunes that tried to blend retro game composition and modern music melodies. All instrumentation was done with Studio One's out-of-the-box synths and virtual instruments.
Please reach out to me if you would like the song cut to use as a loop!

Oh you're not dead
I have to say, you are really good with melodies and chords.
The sound design is very simple. Obviously because its an 8 bit type song, but I would like you to add some newer types instruments to your video game music (something like a piano could work here).
The saw lead can use a bit less flanger, but that's it.
The song feels stale. You can automate stuff like cutoff and volume to make it more lively.
Another thing is that I don't see the point in copy-pasting the song. The song could have been
1:13 minutes long, and nothing would change. The only way I can see how copy-pasting the song is useful is to show that the song loops well. but then you can fade the song earlier, because everybody knows how it goes after that.
Overall, it sounds like something I would jam to in a video game and never question if it came from a third party composer, so it does its job perfectly. I'm glad to see that you are back :)

Ragekaje responds:

Hey ofekdr85,
Thank you so much for the feedback! I agree with all of the points that you made. I never noticed the overwhelming flange effect until about my 60th time listening to the song, (lol) which by then I had already printed the album and uploaded it to the major platforms. I definitely could and should have used automation, but I suppose it was fear of screwing it up that kept me from it. As far as the loop goes, you're definitely right. I could have had the song end at the first repeat. I guess I had just done what I always hear when I listen to OST's for games. (two playthroughs and then fade on the third)
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to analyze and leave a review! I will have to try to implement these points in future projects! Stay awesome!
