A remaster of my 2005 version of ff6 serpent trench by Chronamut/IoTheEternal

Back when I did this I did this really cool technique where I devolved the arp to bounce all over the place - I feel it really added some variety to the original piece.

Enjoy!

huh.... sounds much better then the first version :P <3

IoTheEternal responds:

interesting considering it was done 8 years earlier - the other one was more true to the original, but I guess that made it more boring hehe :P

thanks for the review!

I think this one sounds a bit better with this smoother sounding arp. Not a fan of that new bassline, though... too crunchy and harsh sounding. Even the secondary synth sounds better too. I love all of your VG renditions. You should do the Guardian Legend main theme sometime when you get around to it. That's one VG soundtrack that will always have a strong memory in my childhood. Keep 'em coming, bro!

IoTheEternal responds:

unfortunately I only do remixes of songs I've actually played, never played guardian legend unfortunately..

That arp actually was unintentional - I used sid sounds and when it went above a certain pitch or hit certain notes it would bounce them to other notes for some odd reason - but it sounded so unique I decided to keep it hehe.. ahh the fun of working with sid..

that bass is pure SID sound - its why it sounds crunchy and harsh - I wanted to emulate the commodore 64 days - all of the sounds are pure commodore 64 sounds :)

and I shall :)

thanks for the review old friend :)

Ah glad that you didn't use that original arp here which sounded awful to my ears :p

I like the general sound of this, it has a nice build-up to the different parts and the choice of the instruments is ok, it fits together. I would love to also see you sending more original stuff to me in the future.

IoTheEternal responds:

not much you can add to a song like this - also I made this in 2005 hehe :P

I'll do more original stuff in time - lots of remixes to remaster in the meantime.. and old originals peppered throughout as well.

thanks for the review! Not quite sure why you hated the arp so much lol..
