So.. a remix of a remix. How deep can we go with this :P
I saw the announcement that a remixing contest for the old NG artists was created, and I decided to join. I picked API - Paradise on E (Remix) because it was a song I've heard before and I wanted to do a remix on a happy sounding song. This is what I came up with, enjoy =)

What a relaxing, I'm going to start the year like this.

You went in a direction I wanted the original piece to go. You evolved it and brought more dynamics to the song. The mix is tight and everything sounds pro.

The sidechaining is a bit obnoxious, though. I can barely enjoy the main melody of the song because it goes in and out so much. We finally hear the full melody at 3:39 with no side chain but there's no beat and its very anti-climatic the way it ends like that.

It's still a very well rounded and fleshed out remix.

Going to open this one up with: Dude you've got balls taking on a juggernaut of a track for your entry, and I can respect that. :)

This thing is a rock solid homage to the original remix, there's a kind of flow and energy to this track that just grabs a hold of you right away, so many "just right" elements in here.

I love that you introduced that clap and percussion elements into a few sections of this, they go the distance when it comes to giving this a distinctive modern feel over the original track, but you also kept that awesome timpani roll style drop from the original track which really ties both of their drumline ends together nicely.

Synths sound great on this one, super clean, they really fit the original track's vibe but differentiate themselves nicely from it.

Yes, I'm gushing, yes I like this track.

Take my 5 dammit.

Ok so the thematic approach to the remix is good, you've modernized the piece genre wise. I would just file this under dance or trance instead of experimental as conventional music standards are being used. The mix in the intro is hazy and that opening needs to be on point for any song. The mix throughout say almost half the track could use some clearing up as the volume gets a bit overbearing at times. It's tough to improve a masterpiece so +1 for the ambition and +1 for finishing and going top 8.

Such a great tune to choose for a remix... and one that is remixed from a remix.

Your levels are perfect and beautifully mastered. The right amount of bass, beats, melody and harmony makes this track very easy to listen and dance to.

The beat could use a little more percussion, claps, hi-hats or something to make it more powerful to get this tune picked up from sounding a little less flat.

Each synth was implemented very well with its placement in sound design and complimentary flow with supportive bass and harmony.

The choppy reverbed effects give this a nice change up from API's version breaking up the similarity and adding your own mix to the original.

Great job on keeping a lot of the original sounds, yet turning it into your own!

Overall 4/5
