Made for the NGAP Bingo contest. Originally I was aiming to do the full board, but between sample hunting, looking up what musical terms meant and trying to figure out how swing was composed, I ran out of time.

Fantastic tune. I could imagine it sounding really amazing with some cool medieval/ celtic instrument libraries like the ones Eduardo Tarilonte makes. Nice job!

SI-7 responds:

Thanks. I wish I could afford a sample library like that, but I unfortunately can't, and won't be able to any time soon.

Fun piece. Has a bit of a Celtic vibe, although I’m not sure I was a huge fan of your percussion samples. The sub-bass also felt a bit out-of-place in the texture. You have a good sense of melody and harmony, and I liked the modulation at :53. I think my main problem with the piece is that the phrasing and structure could be a lot more creative. The main way in which you create variety in the piece is by adding and subtracting elements over time, which is a pretty rudimentary way of doing so. I’d suggest experimenting with changing volume levels, using automation and filtering, and adding variations on existing riffs as a way of creating a stronger sense of progression. I also think the mix is pretty quiet in this piece. I’d suggest looking into compression as a way of helping the mix feel thicker and louder. That said, I generally didn’t have any problems with the clarity of the mix. Overall, cute piece with some strong melodic content and catchy harmonies. Keep at it, SI-7!

Thank you so much for the review. This is really, really helpful in telling me what I need to improve on, and I appreciate it a lot.

this is a cute little song, although the volume is rather low on it.

I have to say this is a rather nice experimental song, it all flows together well, although some of those notes in the main melody felt a bit off hehe..

great combination of elements though - fix the mastering on this bring things forward and make it overall louder and itd be pretty kickass! Cut that silence off at the end and put this on loop and you got yourself a pretty solid loop song as well :)

I'll give it a 4 out of 5 :)

SI-7 responds:

Thank you! The notes in the main melody are meant to feel a bit off during the first part, as it changes between G major and harmonic E minor. The reason for the end silence is because I was trying to make sure that LMMS didn't cut off the reverb of the final notes like it sometimes does.

Very nice little tune. Love the counterpoint between the instruments and how it just keeps going. Also nice modulation towards the middle, and I really liked the pad you used. My criticism would be that the volume is to low. Master it louder!

SI-7 responds:

Thanks! I've been noticing that since I got my new headphones, I've been mixing things too quietly.
