Bingo: D1
My submission for the Audio Portal Bingo Contest! The five elements from the bingo are quickly established (Guitar, 4/4, Major key, 5 voice chords and Timpani) , and as the song goes on I threw in some other various elements from the board as well, such as a cello.

12/30 Edit- adjusted certain instrument levels and changed song length.

Pretty cool groove and interesting use of the timpani because of the bingo. Could use a bit of variation (especially harmonically) in my opinion so you'd have a proper tune instead of a vamp. Still funky though!

Cute instruments at the beginning. I like the funky guitars and timpani. The texture is a little thin, and it takes a while for the progression to get much of anywhere. I like the additional elements at :45, but I can’t help but feel that the chords are a bit cliche and the piece lacks an overarching sense of direction. Your baseline guitar riff (0:00) shapes the structure of the entire piece a little too much. I wanted to see some more variety in the underlying harmony. Otherwise, the piece kinda sounds like a demo track: not enough shape or emotional appeal to really capture the listener. I also don’t like the cello sample - it sounds pretty inauthentic. I know I’m being really harsh. It’s not all bad. You clearly have a good sense of harmony, rhythm, and flow. The mix is clean, and a lot of the sound design is really well done. I just think the piece would be a lot more interesting if you varied the harmony, automated the volume levels more, and found some other ways of giving the piece a little more flair. I know you were going for a simplistic and organic vibe here, but to be honest I think you could’ve done a lot more with this piece. It ended up sounding dry and generic. Hope I’m not being too negative though. Seems like you’re a talented producer who just took the composition a little too safe. Keep at it, Petrol4brains!

Very fair review, some critiques I've definitely realized myself. I really appreciate this detailed feedback!

mm loving that slap bass - haha this is very 80s - loving your choice of drums too with the timpani - very unique - this sorta reminds me of the level selection music in lemmings hehe, or something out of earthworm jim :P

the mastering on this is stellar, although the minimalist approach to this song def. helps in that regard. You really used the minimalism to your advantage. My only beef is the melody sounded awkward over the bridge part - i think it was maybe your choice of instrument and how it plays the notes - other than that though kickass song!

4.5 out of 5!

Wow, thank you so much! Glad to hear the mastering sounded good to you. I really appreciate the constructive feedback and I’ll take it into consideration moving forward!
