I'm going to admit that before I made this, I barely had any idea what future bass even was. Making this song was an interesting process. I'd like to say I spent most of my time doing research and learning about the genre and then making the perfect track, but to tell the truth, I spent the first week procrastinating. I only started when Native Instruments released TRK-01 Play, which probably saved this track. I had no idea how to make 808 basses or kicks beforehand. After making the beat, I started putting together a bunch of complicated sounds and chords until I finally gave up and realized I was getting nowhere. I looked up a tutorial, and realized I had wasted about 10 hours trying to replicate the "highly detailed" percussion and chords, when, in fact, all I needed were supersaws and basic waves with a touch of modulation and a sustain-free envelope. After the future bass was done, I added some of that s l e i g h b e l l goodness to make it Christmassy, filtered white noise sweeps (because it somehow sounds like snow being shoveled to me), and designed other various FX to keep it interesting.
