Bingo, Honey

Bingo Contest 2018.
I've included an image of bingo sheet:

The song starts in 4/4 & 108 BPM but switches to 9/4 & 172 BPM @ 1:08. That takes care of five dots. Literally none of them are in the same column though.

The song starts with a cello and a choir each hitting Eb. The majority of the song is in the key of Gb major, four more dots.

The song starts with the recording of a guitar tuning. Timpani swell at 5 seconds. Gong at 00:14 and 00:19. Rides start at 1:08. Toms at 1:29. If you missed the toms wait for the caesura at 1:33 for a big silly one. At 2:35, a lone triangle. Another seven squares bite the dust. I've hit bingo with C3 but I hit bingo again with my 16th note synth run at 1:57. I wanted to avoid falling back on my drums or choir pads for 16th note runs.

I might choose to fix this up later in which case I'll change log at the bottom of this page.

[12-6-18] A few chords at the end of the track got ferked. Fixed em. Later in the PM I changed a bunch of hi-hat & ride rhythms. Changed levels on a ton of shit, side chained more stuffs, EQ'd my drums, added wacky grace notes. Ferked with some synths. Changed melodies. This is version 1.2, I guess.

[12-7-18] I waited all day to get home and increase the levels on the bass. Wasn't present enough in the mix. I also changed some chords, more drums, notes. This is officially version 1.3 &1/2. Refresh your cookies or die.

[12-21-18] This will probably be the last change since all I'm doing are minor unnoticeable tweaks. I got rid of the second "Honey" sample because it was stupid redundant. Also, have a Bingo Easter Egg. A Kanyegg: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1870g3

I like the guitar tuning sounds at the beginning. It was a fun quirk. The instrumentation of this piece is really creative, but occasionally a little harsh. The synth at :24 (almost sounds like a radio effect) can be a bit grating. The piece also takes a while to develop, but I enjoyed the tempo change at 1:08 and the corresponding uptick in energy. I like how much you’ve emphasized the ride cymbal in the mix, and the rhythmic elements of the piece are really fun. That said, there’s not a lot of harmonic depth or variety in this piece. I would’ve liked to see some more melodic elements and a stronger sense of direction later in the piece. You definitely went all out with fulfilling the bingo requirements; full credit there. I also think the production quality in this piece is excellent. All of the instruments sound crisp, clear, and full, if a tad over-compressed. Overall pretty strong work, albeit a little lacking on some compositional elements. Keep at it, Quarl!

great use of stereo quarl!

its got your signature style quarl weirdness to it hehe..

love the use of children laughing.. aand then it gets weirder haha.. oh man that time signature.. a rather discordant listen for sure. Around the 3 min mark my ears started to hurt from the bass intensity though lol..

It's all executed rather well though so can't complain stereo wise. It was a cool little random combination, if a bit lacking in a general direction, but it definitely is your music style hehe :)

4.5 out of 5 :)

Quarl responds:

You got some sensitive ears if the bass is hurting you. Turn your volume knobs down yo, I dress to compress.

As someone said before, this is face-melting. Pretty cool hearing how you keep a simple idea interesting for a while with the building/dropping of instruments, creative use of samples and the wide panning of the drums/percussion. Great work!

Quarl responds:

Thank you Mr galletti :)

My face just melted. Now I need another one. Do you have any idea how much costs to get a new face like mine?
Also, 02:35, my favorite moment in this track.

Quarl responds:

Sorry about your face Soro ☹️

Bingo!
The whole bingo thing kinda went over my head. xd
Sorry I got here 3 days late, been working extra xd.
Great, as usual, and soooooo blatantly you!
5/5, for sure.
And no criticisms, which, is sad. xd

Quarl responds:

Awwww shucks. Without criticism I'll get spoiled :c
