This piano piece is a bit experimental. I wanted to use some expressive, yet interesting chords and scales. I hope you enjoy the result!

Watch me play it, if you want:

pretty nice not much to say i like it and the style of dream fit that music pretty well
keep doing good work and have fun making your music :)

Thank you for the review! I will keep on having fun indeed :D

Woah. Really interesting harmonies at the beginning. Seems like you're using a lot of borrowed/applied chords. I really like the melodies at :45. Another unique thing about this piece is that there's a noticeably very wide interval between the voices; around 1:30, for example. Upon second listen, though, I might just think that because each line has such an unconventional contour. The breakdown at 2:23 works really well, and then the somewhat clashing chords at 2:41 sound rather calming. The piece ends with a somewhat tranquil, jazzy passage which I think did a great job of bringing these experimental "dreams" back down to earth. ;) Overall, really cool piece! I totally appreciate all the harmonic eccentricities here. Keep it up. ^_^

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Oh hi! Thanks for the review :DDD
I'm not sure if I'd call them borrowed chords or not, as there is no main scale. The scale changes with every chord (aside from a few exceptions), so I really don't know how else to describe it :p
I mainly use the same 4 chords, from 4 different scales.

I enjoyed reading your analysis of the different parts!

so peaceful..such a wonderful piece of art.
I'd like to use it for a project of my very own, could I use it? (sorry, Im new in Newgrounds, I don't know how exactly things work here xD)

This is amazing. Well done. I love the odd mix of chords. Almost bittersweet, takes me back to the Chrono Trigger soundtrack mixed with Debussy, or something. Beautifully simple yet complex.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I'm very glad you enjoyed it :DDD

I can't get over how effective the chord progression is at depicting your idea. I don't emotionally connect with music often, so when I do, the piece in question means a lot to me. I praise your chord choices quite often, but this progression is truly special and undoubtedly one of your best. I'm very sensitive to aesthetics and in music, and I think this composition is absolutely beautiful and enchanting. I think you can get one of the highest scores in the round if you submit this to ngadm. You might even win!

Good luck again with the song you're making for ngadm! If you manage to top this one, I think you'll have a good chance of winning.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

It's interesting to me that this piece in particular speaks to you so much. Perhaps it is because chords like this aren't used very often, and thus they stand out to you!
I still know a couple of parts in the piece that could use some slight editing, but I didn't do anything to those parts, since I also recorded a video. I'm likely not going to use this for the NGADM, but we'll see how much time I have to finish my other work :)

Thank you!
