Edit as of 7/11/19: Song was remastered. I realized the mistake I made and went back to this song. I would like to revise this song with some of the newer vocaloid that I have, but this will have to do for now.

Lyrics:

There’s been a time where I know that losing was the only thing available to me.
Born to be someone who loves good melodies, want to be the best, improving for first in my life…
Then I learned that yesterday–contest starts today–the NGRMC, I have no time to prepare.
Anyway, how can I really do this forever? Time, flies, dies, why? There’s no end to the bind.
Anyway, we will prepare, my friends, and we’ll know…

Chorus:

N G R M-M-M C
And it is something that I believe in
N G R M-M-M C
And it is something we will win
No matter where we go
They will know it’s not just a show
That we have the beats, bring the heat
Like the streets, we win it up believe

N G R M-M-M C
It’s something that you probably believe in
N G R M-M-M C
And it’s a thing that should never ever end
N G R M-M-M C
There always time for a good friend to start and
N G R M-M-M C
Never to be an end of this great art

Instrumental

Lyrics 2:

I see
Winning
Never
Losing the fight
We’ll win
Believe in me

Instrumental 2-3

Chorus

Ending Lyrics

N G R M-M C
Two-Thousand and Eighteen
Repeat

Description:

This song was a lot of work to create. Originally, I was going to stick with typical competitive style, but I wanted to experiment with the vocaloids that seems to be jumping onto the scene as of late. Additionally, considering the complexity of this song, singing it myself was out of the question, though I tried lol.

The song was created before the lyrics were developed. I had quite a bit of work ahead of myself trying to figure out how to create lyrics (never created any lyrics before) as well as how to make each of the lyrics fit (like adding syllables) in addition to fitting the lyrics to melodies, as a simple melody for a trumpet will not fit well with vocal patterns that you will typically hear from a singer. As a result, I spent a lot of time trying to ensure that the vocal melody fit with the expectation of the melody of the contest.

If you’re wondering about the three “M” in the chorus, I wanted the chorus to have the NGRMC as the main melody, but stretch out a syllable for taste lol.

The last thing I want state is I utilized Vocaloid 5, which is a powerful vocaloid tool that I used in the beginning of the song. Originally, I used AlterEgo for the intro singer, however, the vocaloid sounded very terrible for the part. It’s going to take me some time become perfect with the new tool at my disposal, but I think for the sake of the part developed for the beginning, it came out well.

Anyway, this song was a lot of work and I hope all of you enjoy it.

Synth/VSTs used:

FL Studio Presets
Sforzando (Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra Instruments)
Accordion
Sytrus
AlterEgo
Vocaloid 5

After this and Time to Move, I need a break lol.

Good track, you did good with the vocaloid, the instruments and such. Unlike most of us, you used the melody in a different way, it makes it stand out of the other entries :)

Zelazon responds:

I think over the years, you begin to develop a mastery with developing complex flows from a single chord, which makes the song more interesting than sticking with a single chord. Add to that adjusting the melody just a bit to ensure that a smooth melody is created that sounds interesting makes for a good work.

Thank you for your review :).

Really interesting piece, especially as an experiment. I'm having some trouble understanding some of your syllables on your vocaloids. You can probably combine Jap/Eng phonemes in your compositions to help in that regard.

Overall, it's pretty hard to pick out the remix melody, but I do hear it in some sections.

Mix-wise, a bit mid-heavy to my ears. Could use more bass. Around 1:00 that solo is extremely loud. Piano at some point is distorting in the right channel. Lyrics sound like they're written by a non-native speaker. This is very common with vocaloid so no real issue for me.

Overall, excited to see what you come up with in the future. You've got a strong composition and a strong mind. Study your instruments out, and I know you'll come back with strong execution.

Keep up the good work! Thanks for coming out to NGRMC!

Zelazon responds:

Hello ADR3-N and thank you for your response.

On the phonetics of the vocaloid, I learned how to adjust the sounds of the words to make them sound more authentic versus what they sounded like on this song, so for me, it was a learning experience to utilize vocaloids in a music program (though I shouldn't have rushed it).

As I kept listening to the song, I did notice how odd the piano sounded in the music. However, as I learned with previous songs, changing even one instrument or adjusting it too much can change the song for better or worse, which at the stage I was in was too much to do in a short amount of time. I plan on investing into better sounding piano VSTs to avoid this problem within a short period of time.

Again, thanks for the review and providing as much info as you did.

The vocals.... they surely could have been smother.
I like the song otherwise!
+1 for that description tho!
Nothing to complain about otherwise!
