A bit rushed, I didn't have much time to myself to make this but here it is. My underdogs knockout round tune.

I wanted to give the feeling of dread you feel when someone is chasing you, like in a movie or game where you are chased by groups of people at night with attack dogs.

It's a bit repetitive but I can work on that in future. Made using fruityloops synths, Sonatina cello (credit to Matthias Westlund and Bigcat audio) and free drum samples.

So this has some really nice sounds behind it but at the sametime it seems like it's unfinished and needs more it was not very long and could be longer with more mixtures of sounds maybe even a build up or two would also suffice on this piece but overall this was a nice tune or track you have here so a bit longer and more mixture and a more finished feel about it would be nice

A few things as mentioned above

I like the airy arpeggiated synth at the beginning. Has an apprehensive mood about it. Despite the generic-sounding synth bass and dry drums, the instrumentation isn’t bad overall. Well-balanced texture and cool atmosphere. Let me cut to the chase, though: the composition is extremely underwhelming. The entire piece sounds like an intro for a 5-minute track. There just isn’t much of a strong progression here - no melodies, little structuring, no big transitory moments, etc. I think you know this, too. Seems like you just ran out of time. The content that is here is decent, but this is hardly a structurally complete piece. If you ever do finish it, please PM me. I’ll give you a proper review. Keep at it, Tansuma1!

Thanks for your in-depth review TaintedLogic. It seems Deadlines are not my friend! Honestly I just work a lot which leaves me very little spare time to create anything coherent anymore but thank you for not saying my work is basically trash lol. I will continue to improve and one day pm you the finished thing!

Opening chord sounds good. Could use less reverb/delay, as it doesn't quite sound clean.

Cello modulation needs to be a little bit quicker to emulate a finger sliding up a string. That synth could also use less low mid and more 12k-20k.

This piece has potential, but it sounds very unfinished. In fact, it's not so much the repetition that gets me but the sudden cutoff at the end. I was very much expecting this song to go places. You might appreciate some song structuring tutorials, etc., or perhaps listening to other songs in your chosen genre to give you an idea of where else to go with your piece. As is, you've just got a minor i chord. Have a listen to some synthwave and take the time to learn a little bit of the music theory/structure of the works. It will immensely expedite your writing process. I say this because what you've got here sounds like the intro to a potential 6 minute banger.

Overall, regret I can't justify giving a better score. There's just not enough here to form an opinion. Thanks for coming out to NGUAC!

tansuma1 responds:

Thanks for your honesty ADR3-N. If anything being in the NGUAC has shown me just how under prepared I was and how much more development I need to go through in order to make the cut. Whenever I have free time I shall continue to develop as a musician. This will be that 6 minute banger one day, I promise!
