Chrono Cross - Marbule - At Oceans Edge Mix

One if not perhaps THE FIRST crystal clear son I ever made in early 2004. Somehow all the stars aligned and this just came out perfect. I remember trying out a new technique where I added a reverbed out version of the instrument behind the original instrument and it came out really nice!

So I decided to update it, and I thought, well marbule was on the ocean, why not make it ocean themed? With archipelago water and waves and seagulls and all that fun stuff, just like I used to back in the day :)

Enjoy!

Very pleasant "eat drink and be merry" piece of music. My only complaint is, the "pipe" lead sound is a little dry but no biggy.

IoTheEternal responds:

lol thanks man.

Thanks for the review!

Chrono Cross might have some of the best video game music of its time. Your version of this song is excellent. The Water effects are really done right. The guitars and flute both compliment each other.

IoTheEternal responds:

Thanks hun! I am really proud of this song - and the fact I made it so long ago and it still holds up is a testament to just how great this soundtrack is :)

thanks for the review!

i thoroughly enjoyed this take on the song
i really enjoyed the water effects and just the whole feel of it
i only really have a couple of minor things i disagreed with ; nitpicks really
for the melody that starts at 00:15, i would personally used an accordion instead to fully hammer in the ocean vibe, but i also know that the original song used the same type of instrument you used, so it's more of a personal thing
i also think the guitar at 00:36 has too much high end on it. caught me off guard while listening.
overall it was a very relaxing and calming listen, so great work!

IoTheEternal responds:

I struggle with how much high end to allow cuz I really like high end and I like the crispness it gives the instrument - so we'll chalk that up to personal taste hehe,..

and yeah I am not a huge fan of accordians - gives it a very french vibe feel haha..

glad you liked it man! Feel free to check out my other stuff or the stuff on my old chronamut account :)

thanks for the review!

Very nice choice of instruments,
I dunno much game music but this sounds very pretty.

IoTheEternal responds:

Thank you!

I really loved the more ethereal sounding songs from a lot of the old playstation videogames, and chrono cross was definitely my favourite :)

Expect a lot more to come! I got a ton backlogged :)

here is the original for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AP_y1grbiWQ

My version is a lot crisper.

thanks for the review! :)

Definitely not my style, but this whole song sounds so crisp and clean - I can't really find anything wrong with it, except for maybe a tad more variation. Nice work!

IoTheEternal responds:

hehe glad you like man!

And give in to the waaaves man, the waAaaAaaAaves :P

thanks for the review old friend!
