I appreciate the sounds (man I wish I had all these plugins) but they seem like they belong in a more jumpy, loud, edm song, as this sounds rather plain. I understand it's a chill track, but these aren't chill sounds (plus, isn't tropical house a pumpy genre anyways?). I hate the kick, it really doesn't fit. Needs more drum diversity. The drops are rather weak. They seem out of place, and you should get better at mixing. But you're on the right track! Keep at it, fella, I'm sure you'll get better.

Thanks, and have fun!

Thanks for the review. This is my first time trying to make an actual tropical house song so i turned to nexus for most of the sounds. I agree that the kick isn't the best, and I will choose a different kick for tropical later.

I do love what you have started here! To be honest though using that piano from nexus is a risky move sometimes lol. I have a track I made a few years ago with that exact chord and sidechained the same way so I actually thought this was one of my songs at first lmao. I would say you should try and get creative with the pianos, they're not necessary and can always be replaced by pads of sorts. I love the pan flute you brought in though! The portamento on it is a nice touch, the melody is also fun and fits the bill of the vibe you were making here.

Overall, I would say just try and expand your library of plugins and such. Also, nice lead layering with the pan flute! Very good touch. Though I don't think that kick fits this type of a song to be honest.

Yea, I'm pretty new to this genre so I went for something generic and simple. I will try something more complex next time!

Overall it's pretty good. It reminds me of Stardew Valley. It has some good transitions. I do have to say that the 0:27-1:02 and the 2:25-2:43 sections sound pretty similar. I think the 2:25-2:43 section would have been better if you had say added 1:11-1:18 wobble sound or something similar into the background like you did somewhat with in 1:30-1:35. I also think it could have been a bit longer. Perhaps as long as the 0:27-1:02 section, or longer if you had switched out some of the sounds in the background for the second half.

In fact, going with both of those ideas, I think the 1:30-1:40 area should have had the wobble sound coming it in more and more. If you had done that, I think you should have also made it say 10 more seconds longer, so you can some more time to bring it in. I think this would have helped build up the 1:38-1:40 transition a bit better and it would have had a nicer drop.

Again overall it is pretty good. Those are just a few things I noticed that I think could have been improved on. I may have been a bit too nit picky, but oh well. Thanks for the good song and keep making good music.

Chliz responds:

Thx! This is a very expiremental song, so I do need some constructive criticism. I will take this into consideration as summer continues and I start to make more tropical house :D
