This song is about taking your thoughts captive. What does that mean and where is it in the Bible? 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 says, "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled"
As a follower of Jesus Christ our enemy is not man but Satan, his demon buddies and our own sinful nature. A very important step toward victory over the evil of your own brand is to take your every thought into captivity. If you are having a sinful thought don't let it string along into a line of thought, but stop it in it's tracks and say, "NO!" remembering that Jesus died for that. He is strong enough to empower you to take thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ that your thoughts will more resemble His. Keep praying. Do not quit.
Sinful mind, my sinful mind
Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself
against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought
into captivity to the obedience of Christ our king
Let us redeem the time. Allow Him to cleanse your mind
