Ethereality (Ethereality EP - 2/3)

Author Comments

"Ethereality" is the title track for this EP, following the ideas behind how I'd written the twinned "Dreamstate" EP, having a musical focal point that was uplifting and spacey was important to me.

In this track I used a lot of similar methods to the previous EP in terms of how I wrote the parts, committing almost everything to audio and using midi almost as a recording instrument, I did go further out of the box in terms of processing techniques, I did odd things like quickly automated mass changes in reverb through bit-crushers and lots of other strange little tweaks to get all the broken and atmospheric sounds in this track and in this EP as a whole.

I'm really fond of how this song segues seamlessly from the previous track "comedown" when you listen to it with no lag when the song switches, it's something I've always wanted to do in my music and I'm happy to have found a way to do it smoothly.

I also really like the dusty wind up effects I created that are references to "The World I Made Inside my Mind" from the "Dreamstate" EP, they've become a sound that I really enjoy using right now.

I really hope you enjoy this and you can listen to the whole "Ethereality" EP here with name your price downloads:

Looovely harmonies in the main synths and resonances alike, with a tasteful level of textural sharpness. Cool fidgeting and layered sound design going on, above and below. Everything in the soundscape meshes well. It's possibly even *too* smooth? I feel like I'm left wanting a larger shift in energy, even a bold climax somewhere, but some of my absolute favorite music of all time is similarly smooth in this regard, so it's far from a fault! Also feels a little narrow in stereo for my personal taste, but I've been told I go too wide. (and I *always* kill mono playback via careless stereo delays. :^𝔻)

Good work. Seamlessness is always worth an appreciative mention, too!
