You sound like you're in that odd stage where you're not a noob, but you're not exactly a pro either. I'm there too. At this point, it's more useful to develop good habits than much else. I suggest that you plan out a week or two, and make yourself do certain things. Develop some beneficial habits. Make this whole thing a little more regimented, like, work harder on songs on the weekends, or even make 1 song per weekend. Then, maybe during the week, you could be generating new ideas and just saving them in a different spot than you usually save full songs, or you could do sound designing sessions where you could make your own samples for drums and wobs and stuff like Virtual Riot. Or, you could totally reverse the timing - do sound design on the weekends, and make songs during the week. It doesn't totally matter. (If the initial system is flawed, the crap will just work itself out.) Just keep in mind that whatever schedule you make has to fit in with the rest of your life. xD
It's totally up to you, but something has to happen in order for you to fully transform from noob to pro. :)
