Re-uploaded because I noticed a couple of glaring and painful mix errors.

I spent a bit of time yesterday figuring out how to get a vocoder working and sounding half-decent which was a greater task than I expected, but it's something I've been wanting to do for ages and finally did it and used it in this song. This is the fourth song in my attempt to post a song I wrote in a day, although this took two because of the vocoder thing/having to go to school and play CS:GO.

I actually wanted to capture a mood and feel like I did. Not saying what that mood is, but I wanted to be more specific this time and I'm quite happy with how it turned out!

I've decided that once I've paid off some other things, I'd like to get a pair of decent monitors. I don't ever feel like I can trust my little headphones and bluetooth speaker, so once I have those, I'll re-mix all of these songs :)

As usual, not sure if this counts as synthwave or what? I don't listen to enough electronic stuff like this to know.

Man, this one has a very cool vibe. I actually missed the initial version since I was either away from home or otherwise occupied pretty much all weekend, so I find this secondary release to be rather fortuitous. I'm sure that I would have found my way back to it at some point, but having it at the top of my Friends & Favorites gives me a fantastic place to start my Newgrounds day!

My first listen was just over my little Logitech speakers, and it already sounded great, but now I'm giving your track the attention it deserves by listening again through my Skullcandy headphones. All I can say is, color me impressed...all over again! And apparently I've missed out on a few mixing issues, not that I'd have ever known if you hadn't told me.

Suffice to say, having this track grace my synapses is a true pleasure. I quite simply love everything about it. Nice tempo, solid length, beautiful harmonies, and some stellar vocoder work, especially considering that this was your first time out. Not that I can actually understand what's being sung half the time, mind you. Might you consider adding lyrics within the Author Comments? Just a thought.

Thanks for another epic ride, McG! You da bes.

McGorilla42 responds:

Hey, Chrono!

Thank you so much for the great review! The mixing issue that forced me to re-upload was mostly to do with the vocoders after moving it over to Pro Tools to limit and compress the mix, which made them piercingly loud for some reason. I prefer the metering in PT for some reason, but after a lot of issues there, I decided to just stick to Cubase for that.

I'm so happy you enjoyed it and that it sounded good on your speakers! :) I'm going to seriously look at getting monitors SOON because I feel like it's the next step I need to take.

As for lyrics -- I had a conversation with Skye about this because she said that I often sing unintelligibly and should enunciate, but I actually like unclear lyrics that aren't initially obvious or obvious at all. My conversation with her made me realise that I needed to commit to being either entirely understandable or not, so I decided to go with the "not". The lyrics in this aren't particularly amazing because I didn't have too much time to write any, but they sorta fit the melody and mood! :) The one lyric is "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii'm coming down" which is probably only intelligible because it's the name of the song.

Thank you again for the review and for listening! I really appreciate it. I'll try make another song before the end of the week!

Ooh, you're still at it! I'm a bit too tired to write a proper review atm, but I really enjoyed this listen too ^____^
Keep up the great work :D

Thanks, Lucid! Sleep tight and I hope you have a good day tomorrow. :)
