Hmm, this is interesting)
This was the main theme song I made for a shoot 'em up project in school. The game was called Spirits of The Shogun and was my first made game in Unity.
The game was about being a ninja in feudal Japan, who fends off waves of the modernized Japanese soldiers (armed with guns) as well as otherworldly demons who approaches you from another realm. You had to switch between realms to fight off them all.
Basically the core mechanic of Guacamelee!
An interesting approach to video game music is to have sounds associated with locations and people.
As the sound designer of the group, I wanted the two realms to be recognized through the audio.
So I had Asian instruments and drums be associated with the human realm and electronic, echoing sounds for the demon realm.
Hmm, this is interesting)
