Can you feel the water rushing past?

Winner of the Audio Secret Santa competition on chipscompo.com. Made for garlagan, who requested "something kinda repetitive but concise and ambient-ish" that's "less than 4 mins preferably." I focused on texture rather than composition because that seemed to be a key component of the inspirational tracks he provided; I also sampled the vocals from There for that authentic garlagan flavor. (遅れた)メリークリスマス, ガーラガン!

Edit 2/1/18: Thanks for the frontpage! It's my first time and this is very exciting whoa

:D Thanks MooseMoo!

I made a newgrounds account just so I could vote this song 5 stars. I love ambient songs, but most of them are very simple and lacking that really built-up feeling. This song however... This belongs in a museum, and it should be preserved through time for thousands of years, it's that good. PLEASE never stop making music, everything you make is so awe inspiring, and I LOVE IT ALL!!! :D

Whoa, I... don't know what to say. Thank you so much <333

very late to review this, but better late than never i guess. this is probably my favorite song from you. it's very upbeat and fast-paced, which i haven't seen too much of from you. the vocals in the song are mystical, adding a layer of ambiance to the song which i think it would've missed without them. a lot of the sounds, while repetitive, give a futuristic atmosphere, which makes it feel like an actual adventure. and less on the atmosphere, this song is extremely catchy. i've listened to it a few times, and every single time i've caught on to something new, which is extremely impressive for a song with this kind of ambiance. i can still hear the beat even when i'm writing this, which doesn't happen too often. i'd love to see you do more in this style, but adding just a tiny bit more so this becomes the perfect tune. amazing work, miyo.

Thank you so much Kappsta! I actually spend a ton of time thinking about those little details that take more than one listen to find so having someone appreciate it is one of the better compliments I can receive. Gotta be honest and say that it's unlikely that I'll return to this style anytime soon BUT I can guarantee I will keep experimenting and (hopefully) come up with other new and cool stuff! Thanks again <3

very nic. listened to it a lot, please make more similar to this.

Thank you! I might in the future, but it could be a while— as much as possible, I like to try new things.

I like the energetic pulse it has despite the atmospheric flair. Really cool sound design and progression. I agree that it's a little repetitive, but I also wish you brought out the melodic content a little more. The (vocals?) at 1:34 seemed a little out-of-place, but overall the rhythmic elements of the piece are really strong. Well-structured, smooth-flowing track with strong production quality and killer instrumentation. Keep up the great work, Miyolophone! :)
