I'd been listening to a lot of dub music throughout the day before I wrote this, it put the idea in my head to write something influenced by that when I got home, I took parts of the style like the laid back, delayed and sparse drums, focused on making the sub the main part of the track and also created some nice siren sounds for the main groove, then allowed it to morph into my more usual, dark sound.
I decided that I was aiming for more of an atmosphere, a general background dark, mean and gritty mood, it was hard not to make it build into something bigger and change the feel completely 'cause of the way I usually write tracks like this.
I kept in mind that I'd want it to be the sort of thing that would swell in the background of some sort of intense zombie shooter (my flatmate has been playing a lot of Dying Light so that plays a part in my inspiration)
I had a tough time mixing this, as sub bass is usually something I find a subtle but present level for, having it as the focal point made it hard for me to find the balance between it and the rest of the track, also I never really use reverb heavy sounds so it was difficult new territory for me.
Hope you enjoy this one - <3
