Hello random person who must have clicked on this track by mistake. I welcome you anyway :)

I was looking through rinrue's art and saw his piece, "20..." and soon decided to make a song inspired by it. For the first 40 seconds or so, I tried to capture the landscape and the atmosphere of the piece, and then I sort of let it flow out into an attempt at EDM.

(I hope my music is not an insult to his art.)

I would really appreciate feedback. My apologies for the bad mastering.

Why, that's the snare from the Dub Smash kit on Logic isn't it? XD

Don't feel bad. I've used it quite a lot too, which is why I recognized it. It's really one of the few decent ones that the presets have to offer. Something I might recommend for you is a website called, where you can get tons of samples royalty free from other artists. This is speaking from experience, just 8 bucks can get you 100 new sounds to play around with it, and it was a godsend for my music. You sure seem to be coping alright with what you have, though the drops do feel a wee bit empty. I would recommend just one more element to fill it up a little, what I'm picturing is a reverbed stabbing lead playing on a high c# alongside the snare. Just a random idea.

Yeah, I solely use Logic Pro X, so that limits me to the presets. Thanks for the advice, I'll look into that ;)

The only nitpick I have with this is that the style isn't exactly new (Just a nitpick).

On the other hand, the music itself is great to listen to.

I can see you've put quite the good amount of effort into this!

AssassinOnTheHill responds:

Oh, sorry. My songs are somewhat cliche I suppose... Glad you like it though!

Intro pad is cool, though it would be cool if you did a little fade in for the piano, its a bit sudden. The piano part is interesting, though you do reuse a lot of chord progressions, and it would probably sound better with more variety.

The buildup is ok, though the buildup could use a seperate snare, to keep things interesting.

The drop's kick drum is weak, as the bass overpowers it, try making it louder, and if that sounds bad, try adding some really short sidechaining. The kick drum is the heart of your track, after all!

Your main lead synth that comes in later could use some highpass/high shelf EQ'ing.

I actually really like the rest of the song, including the little elements you added in the background in addition to your bassline synth. Very nice job!

The second chorus could use a second lead/layer, to make it stand out more.

Nice work!
