This is a piece made for the AIM 2017 competition, inspired by this artwork:
The story listed in the description is of a crashed pilots' last moments being made better by a beautiful flower. This song aims to capture that feeling of acceptance and tranquility, while evoking an alien and sci-fi atmosphere.

Great stuff! I love these kinds of tunes. Thanks for linking my art and asking permission. :)

Kalviter responds:

You're more than welcome, mate! Really glad you like it, your art was a very good inspiration :)

This is what I would imagine hearing while the pilot was exploring an uncharted planet, rather than peacefully waiting to die on it. With exception to that, I enjoy it. Great job.

I'm in love with the tranquil acceptance and weirdness of this piece. It feels as though the weird flower in the piece is speaking (metaphorically) to us, the soldier, while our life support beeps at us. While I think this may be in the wrong genre -- although our categories are woefully insufficient -- I'm very much enjoying the vibe.

Only complaint, an outro would have been better than a single note at the end with that pad. Very nice atmosphere.

Kalviter responds:

Thank you, I'm very glad you enjoyed it! I will admit I struggle heavily with categories on NG, but hopefully I can figure it out. The outro could have been extended a little bit, but I did want the finality of one note to show the soldier finally passing.

Amazing sounds! I love the vibe. I personally think it fits the picture excellently. It makes the soldier look so much cooler and gives him personality. It reminds me of watching Tunami as a kid. Awesome work!

Kalviter responds:

Thanks very much for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as you did! I can only hope the judges for the competition are as favourable ;)

Though this does feel like something "spacey", I feel it doesn't reflect the picture accurately enough, but has somewhat of the vibe. I think this reflects the Metroid games more than anything, like the Prime series had some awesome music like this. :)

Very atmospheric, very creative use of elements and melodies, it's pretty and chill, relaxing, and haunting. I wonder, is this Downtempo? Downside is it is repetitive mostly even though it keeps a nice vibe with subtle changes, which is good, though I feel part of it could've had a change-up in melody more drastically, but I like what was added on.

I feel the snare is a bit weak on the attack side, could be a bit louder and sharper to make that impact, hitting a compressor hard enough. Though repetitive, the it does add enough subtle changes to make it interesting. I would love to see this in a video game. Great work overall, mostly good with the mixing, besides what I mentioned. Can't wait to hear more work from you in the future outside of the contest.

Kalviter responds:

Thanks so much for your feedback! I honestly wouldn't say I'm skilled enough to tell whether or not this is Downtempo, but I did take a very ambient approach to this piece. Probably focused too much on the visuals and not enough on the narrative, which would explain the slight repetitive nature. It also means a lot for you to have enjoyed this as much as you have, as I've been a fan of your work for much, much longer than I've been on Newgrounds, so I hope I continue to impress!
