This is a Drumstep project I've been working on over the last 8 days. I started messing around with Serum and managed to make a pretty decent growl wave table out of a hi-hat sample and decided to take it from there.

I tried to make it sound more like a dubstep piece rather than a wall of sound at the drops like I have done in previous songs. Second "drop" is more of a DnB style section.

Heavily inspired by Virtual Riot.

Mastering may be slightly off in places due to the growls but it shouldn't make too much of a difference.

I hope you enjoy this as it was a bit of a pain to make. I ended up scrapping about half the project and redoing the entire thing, but in the end it was worth it.

This took a total of about 20 or so hours, making it my longest project ever. I had to re-render the track to listen to any changes as the project ended up using 60-120(?)% of my cpu (AMD FX 8350) when listening to it through FL.

One of my favorite songs, could I use it a background music?

Really? Thank you so much! And yes you may, but can you use the link to the YouTube version of the song?

I think the lead at the drop could be a bit thicker. Maybe add a gritty bass to the lead, or add some distortion to it.
Wow, I have a lot of praise for this. First, this is your best mix ever. Also, the Serum growls sounded really nice. The melody is pleasing to listen to. Actually, the sounds in general are nice to listen to. I like how you incorporated many of Virtual Riot's signature elements without outright ripping off his style. I have so much other praise about this, but I don't want to make a huge wall of text.

Overall, this is a fabulous track. Great job, 4.5/5

Thanks a lot!
I do agree, I feel that the lead was a bit drowned during the drop.

All that praise makes me know it was worth the extra time I spent on this. Really appreciate it, it's always nice to know people enjoy my stuff!

An NG feature in the making? Nice growly noises, is that Sytrus?

Wow thanks! The synths I used were Harmor, Serum and Massive, but Serum was the only one I used for the growls :)
