EDIT: Fixed audio bug at the end.

Heavily inspired by several other artists, a few of which are izioq, nanobii, Porter Robinson, and Kubbi, not to mention the Kirby series. <3

sorry i accidentally kept people waiting an entire year for another chipstep song

Rainbow Resort is something I've wanted to make for a long time. I had the main idea of it a while back, actually. After lots of procrastination, I finally started working on it and finished it just in time for Pixel Day. The tune was very much inspired by the Kirby series (if you couldn't tell by the name), like lots of my other songs were. If you didn't already know, Kirby is probably my favorite video game series.

Kirby's Adventure was the primary game that inspired this tune. That game holds a lot of memories for me (mostly the satisfaction of beating the final boss), but Rainbow Resort was my favorite world. There was something about all the pretty colors and the fact that it was the final world that kind of made it my favorite.

I'm going to stop obsessing over Kirby and instead talk about the track now.

It was pretty painful to make, actually. For the majority of the time, I had creator's block. That was fun. I was also rushed. That was also fun. And software failed on me a lot while writing this. That too was very fun.

Despite all that though I did enjoy working on it overall, and despite the fact that it was semi-rushed I still think it's probably one of my favorite songs I've made.

I guess it's not 100% chiptune, but neither was my last year's submission, and I think it's alright if it has somewhat of a modern twist on it.

I have some more cool things coming (including more chiptune/chipstep), so stay tuned and stuff.

k dats all enjoy

I feel it could be slightly louder, mixing needs a tiny bit of work, making things blend a little better, the synths and percussion sound a bit too separated in the mix if that makes sense. I like the elements here, but I probably would even replace the kick, it sounds too...thumpy. like hitting a cardboard box. Other than that, this is a pretty song, great job.

Thanks. I agree with your comments about the volume and the mixing.

I kind of understand what you mean by the synths and the percussion sounding too separated. The synth sounds more retro-ish while the percussion is more modern.

I also agree on your view with the kick.

Thanks again!

And a Happy 2nd Pixel Day to you, too~!

Okay, so I went super retro with my track, but you. . . y o u . . . did this! And believe me, I'm not complaining. At all. Because it's a helluva lot of fun to listen to, which comes as no surprise.

Man, that long, slow ritardando at the end is glorious. Love the sound and dig the vibe. Sorry to hear about all the writer's block, omgsuperspeedtotallyrushedgottagofastness, and software issues. Not a one of those things is in any way pleasant, that's for sure.

I've got just one little complaint, and that's the super loud pop right at the tail end of the track. Toss your track in an audio editor and cut that bit off. If it were a loop you'd be up a creek, but you should be able to exorcise the audio demon without too much trouble and update the track. Anyway, I wouldn't feel right taking even half a star away for something like that when it was probably due to a software glitch, and besides--everything else is bonzer!

Thank you so much for the kind words! Love the wording in your review. :P

Don't worry, though. Already fixed it. I checked the other formats that I sent to stores and stuff and they don't seem to have it, so I think it's just a software bug. Thanks for the heads-up!
