“While working as a caretaker at MGCM, for his stepbrother's Music Conservatory,
Tiger was introduced to the Roland Boss DR-5 Rhythm Section.
He'd spend hours on the machine... often more than
eight hours a day producing arrangements on the Tone & Rhythm Machine.
Using the MIDI instruments on Roland's DR-5, in a single month,
Tiger would produce over 250 unique arrangements.” [some call them "beats!" ^^]
Moderate tempo song with a constant back-beat and
analog harmonica put in by pressing the buttons
on the Roland Boss DR-5 :
SEEING it can be humbling at first, but the buttons...
when pressed play a single note or rhythm and you spin the "knob"
to change to single-hit "Rhythm" "Melody" or "Bass" notes.
These songs shared here were recorded in real-time
and the DR-5 Rhythm Section can place
the recordings onto MIDI device or tape.
[there are "connectors" and "audio jacks" in the back]
The machine isn't intimidating at all-
it works just like a piano or keyboard or synthesizer
and plays one note for each button press
and has a hard drive to save pattern parts to.
[The wheel lets you "scroll" through them like
a "wheel-mouse" or "up-down" (directional) pad
on a modern-or-otherwise video game console/joystick]
All notes and rhythms input to a Tape Deck as recorded here
and placed into the [fairly limited] "DR-5 Time Tracking" as
4/4 time has the "notes recorded" "come back" around
and repeat so you can "add on" on a different track
[up to three] selectable on the knob.
[you can add to what comes next as it repeats on 4/4 time]
The time can be extended I later learn--
still though while recording at 16 I liked making
the compositions (which many simply call / called
"beats"] simple enough to write raps
to and my stories with pen and ink the whole
while my song playing over-and over on the DR-5
before recording to cassette. =)
I would type up the lyrics and save them later from my pad. =)
[Today I type my lyrics out though -- speedier and expected.]
Anyway! "Fire (Old Western Camp)"
Me on the Roland Boss DR-5 recording instrumentals to
cassette in the year two-thousand when 16 Years old. =) =3
Please enjoy and like my nephew now in Middle School
[who as a baby -- danced to my beats (no joke ^^;) while
in his crib...) make your OWN music and be inspired to share!
sincerely and honestly,
Thank You For Listening =^_^=
