I didn't have a decent soundfont so I decided to combine two bad ones. I hope it sounds okay. I also had this compose this without headphones, so I hope the low frequencies don't overpower the high frequencies for headphone users.

I'm glad I was able to seamlessly fit a diminished chord into the song.

Thanks for listening.

So here we have the full version! I know I reviewed the VIP of this earlier. I'm glad you made it into a full version!

I still love the melodies, and I like your new additions as well! Even though this could indeed be humanized better (but I know how difficult/time vamping that is without actually playing it), I think it works well as it is too. SoundChris is probably the master of humanizing isntruments. I will note that there is a kind of off sounding velocity drop at approximately 1:20, with kind of a gradual fade, which I felt was perhaps a bit unnecessary. The idea was probably to let it build back into the refrain, but for a solo piano piece, such a feat is difficult to pull of, though not impossible.

I like how you decided to mix two different samples! As you probably know, I've done so in a couple of pieces. That is, In Love with the Wind, and in "A Long Night", in which I actually used soundfonts, since it was for a competition. And I get your struggle! Even if I played it myself on the piano, it sounds like it needs to be humanized, haha. Free piano samples that are good, are not easy to come by :)

Final notes:

I like the new melodies, and the key change at 1:45!
The ending is a bit abrupt, imo, but endings tend to be quite difficult to get right :)

You've still got a really good sense for melodies!
Great job :D

I like the melody and progression. I wasn't a huge fan of the samples, but I think you already acknowledged that you're aware of their lack of quality. It sounds like it's peaking on those higher-pitched notes at :25. I might suggest using a diminuendo to soften up that melody line a bit. For a piano solo, it sounds a bit square. Have you tried humanizing it? For example, I think a ritardando from 1:26 to 1:31 would really add a nice spacey quality to the piece. I appreciated the modulation at 1:45, though. "Valiant" is certainly a fitting title for the piece. I appreciated that you experimented with dynamics a lot in this piece, but I think you could've made it more subtle at times. Overall, this is a textbook upbeat BlueOceans piece for your triumphant return to music-making (and my return to reviewing)! Keep it up, BO. :)

Good piano instrumental. :)

thank you :D
