Hi! This is a remake of Chaoz Fantasy I made in Reason 8.3. It's an exercise I did for school. Nothing in this remake has been sampled from the original.

- The 'hit' sound is from Sonic 3D: Flickies Island's Boss Battle theme, which I had to sample using Winamp.

- The 'whoosh' is a sample I got from 'The General 6000' CD collection (I actually have a boxed version)
The rest was just trial & error. It's not a perfect recreation.. but I did my best! The hardest thing is still the FM sweeping synth ... can't seem to get that one right ...

- Couldn't find that goddamn thunder sound, I've looked all over websites and refills before '07, through all kinds of games from N64 to SNES to DDR, couldn't find it. so I had to improvise, I guess.

I'm quite proud of the snare to be honest.. I always make my own drums by layering and synthesis .. I managed to find samples that really fitted his snare. Then I fed it through my Alesis compressor and viola.

There's a little surprise at the end ;)

Also: I didn't really mix it down properly, so excuses for that, couldn't be bothered

The original BPM = 172 Pitched down -1 ~ Enjoy listening! XD

PS: I know in terms of originality this track has nothing to offer, I have basically tried to copy the original 1:1 .. but it was an exercise

PPS: I might upload an updated version in the future, if I do manage to find the missing samples and manage to perfect the synthpatches

PPPS: I found something that sounds a lot more similar to the original: layering the piano with the "Liquid Stack" sound from the Universe Of Sounds library (which was used in many songs from the 80s and 90s)

It actually sounds really nice. I don't really like this simple type of EDM music, but this is pretty good. I like the varied end. It's better than the original in some ways I guess. The original has a disappointing end, when I wish it had another drop. This one needed more white noise and maybe a background synth.

Hahaha.... You had fun doing this, didn't you? You did well!

Seriously though... you will never beat the original, as much as you try, heh heh.

Loved listening to it and really enjoyed it. Thanks for uploading it onto NG

:)

Good stuff, my one point of criticism is the drums. They seem a little off the way they sound (mostly the snare) but other then that amazing job! :)

Yeah I agree, but I tried my best to get something with a similar timbre.

Thanks for your review! :)
