I made this after Lich said he liked the hand drums thingy. I suppose it's a bit better than my NGAUC track. The question why I always make stuff better than my contest submission, can never be answered...

Well i guess that stupid Blendstrument lib I got while on-sales wasn't so bad. A lot of the tonal arps were created with it.

BUT this track is a little weird to make. Originally I wanted the track to sound like the NGAUC track, but I decided to add orchestra in after messing around with all the string libs and made something nice. Strings and brass are from Albion, and background string from Cinematic Strings. All synths and percs are from Serum, AEON, Signal, Blendstrument Alive Percussion, CinemorphX, Bohemian, Gamelan, REV, Evolve.

Supposedly an inspirational track, but i guess i ruined it. damn mix is a mess.

have a good day!

This is so you! I love it! Again! Tell me your secrets of mixing... How can you do this anyway? You pop out tracks like nothing while I´m still trying to mix even one track... And it sounds perfect... Love your string arps... Bye! Have to sleep ;=)

The secret is... there is no secret! :D I'm serious, it all lies in mastering and mixing. Well, I never EQ the orchestra so what left are the perc and synth. EQing the percussion is easy, if everything else is mostly high section, your heavy perc would have to have more mid-low fred. What you also need is bass, not a lot but you gotta have low-pass to generate the punchy sound. If possible, you can add a slight distortion to boost the kicks. As for the light perc, you want to EQ it a bit less visible to the track.

I master during the production, and mix in post production. My rule of mixing is perc always slightly lower than everything else by 0.2 db so the string won't be drowned (not really exact, more of average). The reason is if you EQed the perc right, especially with decent bass, you don't really need loud volume to do the magic. I can't really fully explain because my audio terms are limited. I do everything by ears, experience and intuition.

The rules of thumb are to balance everything no matter how eager you were liking an instrument, so no matter how fullness the track become, its variables are still the same.

edit. more tips. if many of your instruments have reverb option, you might want to limit them. add reverb on master channel is better. only slightly.

Thank you very much for your reviews dude! Good night! Sleep well!
