SEGMENT EPISODE! This week we also have a ‘special’ feature being that this episode is mostly UNEDITED; I mean I put in music and stuff but awkward pauses?… totally intact. We talk about studios skipping Comic-Con, Eric Goldberg’s awesome couch gag for “The Simpsons” and of course the fact that Comcast just bought Dreamworks Animation for $3.8bil! Taylor Armstrong, festival manager for Animation Block Party in Brooklyn, comes on to remind you all to submit your films to their awesome event, we talk about ALL your #RubberOnionBattle submissions for April and cap it all off with your favorite segment… Rapid Fire! Great episode as always. And there is a previous Unloving Father animation I've got up on Newgrounds here. Also on the 180 rule. The kid is looking in the right direction cause the father is standing to the right of the screen. I really considered putting an extra shot in there to clarify it but that 15sec time frame kinda restricted me from putting either a side shot or over the shoulder. Ha ha. But thanks as always for the shout out.

rubberonion responds:

I see you point about where everyone is in relation to the room, but my point was about where you put the "camera" in that room. on the 180 rule, if you were to draw a line between the kid and the dad... the way you have it now, the shot of the kid has the camera on the one side of the line and the shot of the dad the camera is on the other side of that line. 180 rule says to keep the camera on the same side of the line. here's the video i made that i referred to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2XYDmhB8J4

hope it helps and i'm not coming off as a know-it-all dick haha i liked your entry! looking forward to the next one!

"OH BOY!" So cool to see the challenge growing and hear your comments! :); pretty fun to go over the entries and check the takes on the theme.

Also, fun trivia about the sound effects; hadn't thought about a shotgun as a cartridge sound and it does a pretty good job! That reminds me about the sound I used on mine when the game is introduced on the console, I wanted to record it from a Gameboy I still have around, but I couldn't get a clear sound,so at the end I actually used an amplified Floppy disk sound, hahah!

rubberonion responds:

haha that's awesome! I really enjoy creating sound fx myself but I think that knowledge actually really helps when I'm against the time-wall and have to resort to free online sound banks in that I'm able to think outside the names (just like making sound fx). and not to plug another one of my own things but it sounds (heh, sounds) like you might enjoy my VLOG on creating sound fx
