It's an homage of different sorts.
As the song is, it is a good attempt, but strikes a painful cord.
The instrument that you used truly did ruin the song for the most part. That distortion that you spoke of happens too often and kind of reminds me of a washboard being played with a spoon, or nails on a chalkboard.
I was a bit saddened that there were no lyrics, and what you chose to represent the lyrics seemed a bit too high in pitch and dry for the rest of the song.
After listening to this, i felt as though it was a good song. It's obviously recognizable and makes me want to listen to the original all over again.
On a personal note:
Also, this song sounds like something that one might expect find in a video game. Perhaps if you had submitted it under a different category rather then "Classic Rock" you might have gotten a better response from the NG community.
When all is said and done, and the music has stopped, I liked it. There were several point in the song that you managed to hit spot on. Others not so much.
My favorite parts of this song are at 2:23-3:24 and 4:20-5:05.
My rating for this 7.8 out of a possible 10.
Actually Pretty Dec'
I don't know why this is rated so badly (no offense), I thought this was a really good take on the awesome Zeppelin song. I went around looking at other covers of classic rock songs. This one is not far off. At 2:23 and other places was nice lil riff. But that really squeaky synth or whatever you call it i dunno, maybe just two squeaky. It was kinda cute but didn't really match the rest of the "rock" song.
Umm... Synth BAD
Really must you ruin an amazing Led Zeppelin song with sythesizer?
