Track for a weekly challenge where the theme was "comfort", which to me meant familiar music and not so aggressive lyrics. Bit wonky mixing but I've moved on.

Performed vocals, guitars & bass, sequenced the rest in FL Studio 12.

Verse I:
Standing alone in silence
Reflecting deeper on where I am now
The air is cold and the grass is damp but
There is a beauty to what I'm seeing

The shapes and colors
The smells and other sensations
Are something I did not know I missed
But now that it's all before me
Again the memories all come rushing back
And I know

I know

This is the place where we spent our youngest years
Where we played all day long and there was nothing to fear
Not a worry in the world, we were happy and free
That the land remains unchanged relaxes and comforts me

This is the place that watched my people grow
That provided us all with somewhere to call home
After white winters cold and a night sky of black
The summer sun, and green grass, always came back

Verse II:
Walking along the worn paths and resting
On the old tree stump next to the lake
I squint my eyes as the sun reflects
On the surface just like a mirror

The brilliance has me entranced for a while
Until a cloud gently drifts by
Blocking the rays
I stand up to keep on walking
Though I wish I could
Stay forever in this spot
But no
It's time to go

Verse III:
Making my way back
Slowly I savor all the nostalgic feelings
Though I've moved on and my life has changed
They will never leave me
Like treasures deep inside my mind

As I'm about to leave
A smile crosses my face
Because I realize that
Whenever I want I can return
And this place will be waiting
Just as I left it

[Chorus x2]
