I had a bit too much equipment, so decided to sell a few that didn't get much use. Namely a Roland D110 and a Novation Bass station. Of course, I needed to test them first, so I set up a little side area, started to play with them, and before I knew it I had an entire album; 'Evenings at the Microscope". There's freedom in simplicity. I gotta say, the d110 is vastly underrated for a <100 sound module. But, yes, I did eventually follow through and sell them off, for practically peanuts.
I learned to keep a simple 'studioB' set up as a sketchpad area, where I can knock out ideas when the main studio is locked up working on a project. It's a spot to drop in neglected bits of gear and get a final romp before a (potential) sale.
