Hai yo there

This year I'm going to try (TRY) to post more music. I know I say that every year... And I do actually try. But life happens fucking fast and lately I've been moving away from songwriting which is dearly important to me. Even shitty things like this I'm sure SOMEBODY will listen to and enjoy, so I'm going to get back into the spirit of why I post music: So others can enjoy some of the random shit I create.

If you know I have a Soundcloud then you've already heard this, but not everybody cares about all those other random sites. This song's framework is basically the GameJam "Schitzo" but with extra mixing work and vocals. I've always hated my own vocals honestly... But that's not going to stop me from trying to make them better. I recorded all the vocal takes in about an hour so I apologize if any of it sounds somewhat rushed.

I'm posting this song late at night so few people will probably hear it, but I hope you can tell a noticeable improvement in my tone and pitch. No autotuners were used AT ALL (FUCK YEAH 2016) and I'm probably going to try and make more tasteful vocal pieces in the future.

But don't hold your breath 'cause I can't really find a lot of time to record them since I live in a house full of people and am embarrassed as fuck to record with them in the house.

I ended up showing this song to one of my friends and he noted that it doesn't really sound like me. Another one of my friends said I mixed the vocals into the background too much, so if you feel that way too maybe I'll remix it a bit so the vocals are more prominently pronounced in the mix.

Anyway, here's some lyrix:

Dull the pain I'll ask for more
I don't care what I'm pressing toward
In the end there is no reward

Don't believe in anything
Pick the scars for the reminder it brings
Open sores and the bleeding sings

I cannot make it stop
Because you haven't made enough of yourself;
To escape from your hell
Take it out on me and free yourself

What is love is it even real
In my soul I know tha-a-at I feel
Underneath the skin that peels

I cannot make it stop
Because you haven't made enough of yourself;
To escape from your hell
Take it out on me and free yourself

This is it, we are done
You are not the only one

I have to agree with Axel.
The tone didn't really flow with the vocals much in my opinion my friend...but the way you carried the vocals has an A7X feel to it with the way the beat carries your voice.
Love Burns DID carry your best performance in my opinion also, but then again...I've been digging your music since being a part of the newgrounds community.

The shy artist thing...please.
Lock yourself up in the garage and soundproof that bitch...cut loose and let us hear the end results!
Other than all of that, a good ear tingling piece this was.

"More, you must, for us, make you."
(stares blankly into space)

I absolutely agree, the tone of my voice is NOT matching with the tone of the song. AT ALL. But I appreciate your words of encouragement and I'll take them to heart next time around.

And a soundproof garage might just be what I need to keep working on vocal stuff because the paper-thin walls of my apartment aren't doing me any justice.

C'mon dude, this wasn't shitty at all, in fact it was pretty solid. I will say that I agree with the one friend who said it wasn't quite "you," more so with the vocals. That's not to say they were bad, because you have a great voice. I think it might've been the overall tone that felt different. I feel that 'Love Burns' had your strongest vocal performance (I know it had autotune but that's besides the point). The feel was more intense and focused. It could've been like your other friend said, how the vocals were blended into the background a little too much, and that's why they felt softer here. I dunno, either way it was a good song, so well done sir :3

(Also, I totally get the shy-artist-around-other-people thing, cause I've got it too haha)

Burn7 responds:

Well thanks for the compliments man. For this recording I was trying to make a more, uhm... mature sound? I feel like doing more vocal things as of late, but if I do they will definitely be more along the lines of "Love Burns", definitely more focused and portraying the emotions I'm trying to. This was most definitely a test for those songs.

Either way it's good to hear you thought this random dropping was worth it! Thanks!!
