Mainly inspired by SkyrisDesign's piece of the same name:

I wanted to capture the hollow, daunting feeling that the art gave off. Hopefully I've done just that! That being said, I had another inspiration for this one, namely 'Eternal Oath' from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (such a great soundtrack; its influence always seeps into my music)!

*Note: There seems to be a looping issue with this track (not quite sure what to about that).

Anyway, I would love to hear your thoughts on the track. Thanks for listening! :)

VSTs/Plugins used:
- Forest Kingdom II
- Shevannai
- QL Spaces
- FL native plugins

Be sure to check out Skyris' work -- he is incredibly talented!

I love the atmosphere in this, reminds me of the first cave areas you find in the LotR game on super nintendo.
About that looping issue, NG's upload preview hasn't been working lately, at least for me. Previews aren't looping at all until I upload and listen to it with smart loop on

Glad to see more stuff from you, Neon! You are most certainly one of the best people when it comes to creating an atmosphere. I think it fits the picture perfectly! I haven't heard anything from FFCC myself, but I think this would be extremely fitting for any sort of RPG. :D

The looping issue is something that seems to be happening on every song on Newgrounds at the moment. I'm not sure what that's about, either. In any case, the quality of the track is relatively unhindered by it.

Neon-Bard responds:

Much appreciated, DMO! Thank you very much for your kind words. It's good to know that the looping issues is universal, I was starting to think I was messing something up in the export process. Glad to know that this is relatively a non-issue! :)

Oh my goodness, I just love this piece to black flaming death! It's been giving me chills on every listen, and I've already run through it about half a dozen times. Still a bit on the short side, but...so what? It just plain works.

I can totally hear Eternal Oath in this, but it also brings to mind a couple of great tracks from Chrono Cross, as well. Some really incredible use of Shevannai here, and the entire piece feels very appropriately dark and desolate, with just the right amount of fire and ash sprinkled in.

Neon-Bard responds:

Many thanks, Chrono! Yeah...it's a little short -- I apologize for the short tracks haha!

Eternal Oath is just so darn gloomy, and I really wanted to bring about a similar atmosphere with this piece. The artwork is phenomenal, so it really made creating the track an enjoyable experience. I haven't played Chrono Cross (gasp!), but I will have to check out the soundtrack.

Thanks for listening man! :)
