Alright, so the NG audio player doesn't work perfectly for this track, as it creates a click at the loop. This is a piece that really needs to loop smoothly. It's a real shame, but you could always download the track and listen to it in Winamp :p

So this is a very interesting composition that I made in about half an hour today for no real reason. While it can sound pretty simple and relaxing, it is rather complicated in another sense. Depending on how you look at it, every chord is different from all the other chords in the track (or rather, they are all different variations), except for like one chord which I used twice or thrice. And the progression is rather random too. So it actually took me another half an hour to be able to play this track, simply because I had a difficult time actively remembering it. It's not really a fun track to play either, though I like listening to it.

Another cool thing, is that the time signature changes many times throughout this short loop. Only for one or two measures at a time really, but still.

I figured that if anyone wants to take a look at the MIDI file, I might as well upload it here. Should I upload my MIDI files every now and then? People have been asking for them at times, but I don't know if there is really any demand at all :p

This track is quite obviously inspired by Eric Satie's "Gymnopédie No. 1"

Enjoy :3

Shame on me, I never reviewed this piece, even though I've been listening to it for years now.
First of all, it loops very well, the last part being very smooth. It's not the only piece of yours containing noticeable low keys, I really like them. The fact that the track starts with one is probably why it feels like a very consistent one. Its structure is well defined and it's very satisfying to expect the next loop when the flowing transition is soon to be heard.
Next, I'd like to point out how calming it is. To me, it feels like it can be used to describe just anything with some distance.
I've been staying away from Newgrounds for a while now, finding new tracks to be fruitless and too much efforts for it to be worth it. You are one of the few artists I found early on and still listen to regularly. Thank you for sharing your works, your piano pieces have always been my favorites out here.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Aww, thank you so much for reviewing this, and more importantly, for coming back to listen to my songs! <3

Have you heard @Phonometrologist 's version of this piece?

I think he did a brilliant job!

If you like my piano pieces, even though it'll be a very different style than this one, I am planning on uploading one to Newgrounds before the end of this coming weekend!

Thanks again for your support :D

I like the emotion and progression. Honestly, I didn't notice any clicks at the loop. It's a bit flat dynamically, but I couldn't expect much more from a 1-minute-long loop. Nice job with making the time signature changes so natural-sounding, btw. Not much more to add. You should start keeping track of what percentage of your NG uploads are piano solos. ;P

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Hey, and thanks!
The click at the loop was worse, during the time that there was something wrong with the NG Audio Player. But there still is a minor one, but you might need really good headphones or speakers to be able to hear it :)

Aww, and I though the volume dynamics in my performance was okay D:
But I guess you mean rhythmically? It's not really meant to be more dynamic there, as it's based off of Eric Satie's Gymnopedies after all :3

You know, I actually didn't realize I changed the time signature until after I made the piece, which probably explains why they ended up sounding natural... Me and theory don't go too well together XD

Uhh... A large percentage? They tend to be among my best tracks too :)

More importantly, if you haven't, check this out!

Phonometrologist just made a cover on this piece, and it's waaay better than this piano track. It might have all the dynamic you're looking for :3

Thank you for yet another review! Now, I'm back to work... I need to upload 4 more tracks this year...

Reminds me of the soundtrack from the film Her. <3

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I haven't heard it. I need to check it out! Thanks for listening :D

Im in a smokey 1940's bar. A long, tall girl in red saunters in as I drink my last shot for the night. "Whats a classy dame like you doing in a place like this?" I ask as she sits beside me. "Im in trouble and I need your help, detective." This somber piece has this kind of tone and reminds me of a classic, noir type. Thanks for bringing me there again, Lucid.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

You definitely made my day with these nice reviews :3
Also, that's a really cool interpretation of the piece! I can definitely see it working in that setting. Good imagination you have there ;)
Thank you, for all the nice words and for listening to my tracks :D

I'm very impressed by how smoothly your work loops. The transition from end to beginning is very subtle and after listening to it for a couple minutes as background music it's very easy to get lost in it's very gentle mood. Thanks for uploading!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks, dude! I am still pretty unhappy with the fact that the loops could be even smoother (as it is when played in Winamp), but unfortunately, isn't with the NG player. I'm glad that you appreciated the overall mood though, and that it's easy to get lost in, as that is most of the intention behind the track!
