Well done with the strings. Makes it fun to listen to. Great work all together. my only complaint would be there's no method to the madness hehe but i suppose thats part of the charm of this song!

What a haunting melody. I felt the strings portrayed a very dark, subtle, lonely feeling. The pizzicato plucks that came in somewhere later I didn't quite understand to be honest. It didn't really add anything to the image, however it was a neat addition, perhaps i'm just not seeing it.
In any case, you've got all the highs and low ends covered as I believe a String Quartet should do (though I felt at times the high end was a bit much), but other then that, the melody continues, pushing, and always existing with the initial core you gave it.
I know this is supposed to be a string quartet, but I keep imagining what an oboe would do for the piece, my imagination runs away without me sometimes, it may not even sound good, but I could be wrong.
In any case, good piece! I did enjoy it so :D. Keep em coming WinTang, keep up the good fight!

Pizz plucks are really intended as a kinda harsh break, to precede repeating the figure of the beginning for the third time. It's meant to be some sort of pre-climax.
Other than that a oboe obviously doesn't belong in a string quartet, I'd have to seriously rewrite this in order to add it. An oboe among strings will stand out a lot, which means it should play the lead, which means I have to dissect the whole thing because now the lead is pretty much equally distributed among the four instruments. Alternatively the oboe could fully harmonize the melody, which I believe would emphasize it too much - I wanted this to be a lake of tone with shards of melody surfacing and sinking again, if you catch my drift (excuse the aquatics pun).
I do love oboes by the way. You'll just have to keep an eye on this page to satisfy your imagination.

There are some mightily haunting chords in there, there's something magical about the orchestra. Maybe it's never been improved on really.
Hmm..a bit of a tangent with the pizzicato. The phrasing is very well done and sounds true to life. I've always wondered if thats achieved with an expression pedal or sustain pedal, some kind of pedal? :) ahh, I'm clueless...
An enigmatic conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Well done, really well done.

The way this works: I wrote out the complete sheet music, including dynamics, slurs and whatnot, in NoteworthyComposer, and exported it as a MIDI-file. All the phrasings and dynamics stay intact that way. Then I imported into Cubase, loaded Edirol Orchestral VST and assigned the samples to the channels. That resulted in the version below.
For this version, I sent the MIDI to Simon-F who did pretty much the same thing, except with Garritan Personal Orchestra - a better VST, Q.E.D. :)

The start kinda makes me sick, because it´s
insanely slow and one-tracked. It gets better latter in the track, though.

But I don´t know... I don´t like songs that much if it´s only strings in the song...
I don´t see all the changes shere... at times there is a footstep machine going around and at times it just ends... Gotta get my headphones back soon XD
Nice melody. It made the song a lot better, thrust me.
It is very slow, and therefore I think it sounds annoying at times, because it never goes forward.
But either way, nice track. I think youy could have added other instruments though, to flavour the song more.

It's not for everyone, I'm sure.
Unfortunately (for some), this is as much orchestration as string quartets offer. There is a lot possible with just the four solo strings, but in this case I purposely kept it very slow and minimal. There is variation on a small level, and the feel really needs to appeal to you to be able to sit through it.

Ok I can hear the violin and the cello I can't quite make out what the other 2 instruments are! sorry I can't have the volume too loud either as it's late here and I'm at risk of waking the house :)
This is a very calming piece and I don't think you used software on this piece either, I mean for the instruments, they sound like they're almost live! so did you actually play these instruments?
btw what is GPO? you mention it in the description!

Hey, string quartets are cello, viola, 2nd violin, 1st violin.
GPO is the VST that the instruments are from, so that answers the question before that :), no I didn't play them, I just composed the piece, wrote the sheet music in NoteWorthy Composer, exported a MIDI and imported it in Cubase, then had Simon-F do kinda the same because he owns GPO and I don't. I have Edirol which is decent but solo strings sound like crap.
