I've been fiddling around with a video game idea in my head (I don't know how to code for shit, but I think I'm a decent storyteller at least, goddammit...), and to keep me on track, I compose songs to go with various scenes (no pun intended...I think). This is one such song, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
It's a love song (shocked gasp of the crowd). Like, those video game romance scenes where it's like "OMG, I can't live without you but we're probably gonna die tomorrow so...carpe noctum!" (Looking at you, Mass Effect)...that's kind of the idea here. And I like ethereal (or couldn't you tell?) so...this is what I've got.
The language is made up, but the lyrics literally translate to this;
Loved one, walk from pain,
Loved one, walk with shining light
Loved one, say only the language (words)
Our hearts beat strong...
Our hearts beat strong.

Hella cheesy, but that's me...and it's in a made-up language, so you could forget that if it makes you wince.

The melody and progression of the piece is really fantastic, and the vocals are gorgeous.

I felt like I should nip a few stars because the whole piece sounded like it was being played in a tissue box. It almost sounds like you cut out anything below the 800hz range. The complete lack of low-mid and lower ranges makes it feel extremely tinny and wispy. I understand you were going for ethereal, but I don't think that necessarily precludes the lower ranges. A huge swell in the lower end around the 1:30 mark would have turned my spine to jell-o.

It's a really beautiful piece, and I guess I just wanted to hear it more "fully". Great work, and I look forward to hearing more from you!

I hear you...I think it has more to do with the VST plugin I was using than anything...I tried everything I could think of to try and boost the bass and treble a bit, and failed...which means I probably should have used a different tone, but since I was trying to make it as a part of a larger set, I didn't want it to stand out too much.
On the other hand, I'm flattered that you think it's so pretty! I'm a little late seeing this, but it made my night! So thanks for that!
