Heavy, lingering piano reminiscent of Action and mystery. I'd like someone to add lyrics to this if anyone wants to. Rapping, singing, whatever works for you I'm down to get experimental.

Arsonist pretty much picked out what I loved with this track, and Shurrikane picked out what I thought could have been done better. the piano sound very synthetic, and by that I don't only mean that the piano itself sounds synthetic, but the way the piano is played. Remember that a human piano player won't play each note at the exactly same velocity level. Try varying the volume of each iundividual note to make the playing sound more realistic. I'll add a link to a very good video below that explains this more in depth. The guy usues fl-studio, but the same applies to Reason or any other DAW for that matter.

Other than the piano sound, this is a really solid track. The percussion toward the end get's a bit drowned by the synths, but I really liked the beat you had going there.

IndustryStandard responds:

Good advice on the piano synth. I was aware that using MIDI instruments(at least when you simply click them into the piano roll instead of playing the riffs) could sound too robotic, but I was never really sure how to fix that other than trying to play the riff myself. I've since found a better piano instrument that uses samples instead of synthesizing the sound, and altering velocity shouldn't be a problem. thanks!

All in all, a great ambiental track which can describe an action-packed story.
I imagine someone having to bear a mysterious task or fight.
This definitely has a lot of potential but you have to work on the sound of your songs. The mix doesn't sound completely right and finished and the piano could sounds a bit synthetic/generic - that's why I can't give the full 5 stars.
I'm curious about what is coming next! :)

IndustryStandard responds:

I understand about the piano, it is 100% synthetic, and quite generic indeed. I didn't realize at the time Reason had a sampled piano as well, which probably would have sounded better but that's just something I'll have to mess around with in the future.

In hindsight, I might have actauly forgotten to mix this before uploading it... Although it's equally possible that the mixing is just not very good, I made this track a while ago and I'm sure it could benefit from a little reworking.

When I listen to this, I think of that quiet moment on a nice summer day when you're standing on the beach with sand between your toes. The tide is low, and the sea almost seems silent. You look out on the horizon, and to your surprise, a giant wave grows. You hear screams of people who know what the ocean has sent you. Curiously, you gaze out as the roar and power of the churning water rises. A powerful tsunami rumbles toward you, but you are naïve and unaware of what is about to happen. Entranced by the wave, you stand there, unaware that your life is about to end. The wave consumes you when it reaches the shore and the sheer power of the sea rips the life from you instantly.

That's what my brain did when I heard this. Thanks.

IndustryStandard responds:

I'm glad you liked it! I try to make most of my songs have a certain cinematic feel to them, it's good to know I'm doing something right!
