I quite like this. After listening back to the source material, I can see where things lie.
As a cover/recreation of sort, it's pretty good. Even got it down to the vocal sample he used at the beginning of his track, hah! I think to get your main synth a bit more movement, throw some portamento in there so you can lead in to each note a bit smoother.
You've got the bass, the synth, and the kit. But you're missing some extra intricacies that could give this a little bit of a bigger feel. The emptiness is especially noticeable at 1:40 and prior to onward. An extra melody, some added harmonies or just your synth pitched down with a different timbre. Something like that will make this way better.
Also, kit I like. But the kit kind of thins out towards the end. You had it rollin', and then it was stripped away. :( Some different patterns would have helped there. It doesn't have to be to the 'T' to be a cover, you can definitely add your own flavors to it to make it just as much yours as it is a cover.
