So. Prepare for an arpeggio nightmare >:D

My first audio submission of 2015 is actually a composition I made in 2013. This is not just any composition of mine though; it's one of my very favorites. It isn't necessarily better than all my other songs, but for some reason I like it a lot. The rhythm is very simple, and remains the same throughout pretty much the entire piece. It also has some very weird transitions here and there. Despite its flaws, I love this piece (don't be afraid of criticising it though! I don't get offended :p)

The recording is from today. I put a bit more effort into the recording process, and I think it was worth it. There should be no clipping, and the noise in the background is so low volumed that you can barely hear it :3

There are a couple of mistakes, but I've decided that I should try to be less OCD:ish (I am doomed to fail in that aspect though). After all, I succeeded this well on my first recording, so this track is unedited, apart from the reverb.

There's a picture (that I have drawn) which I associate with this piece, although the moods of the drawing and the composition are far different. Either way, you can look at that poor piece of art if you want to XD

Reverb and such added with Cubase :)

Enjoy!!!

P.S. In like 10 years or so I should try creating an orchestral version of this piece :3

This is probably the oldest track from you that I actively come back to listen to.
Quite insane to think that I was barely 8 when you made this...

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

That is pretty crazy for sure! This is actually one of my earliest pieces that I consider very good. Of course, I would do some things differently now, but I really like the core idea and the exploration of that. To think it's been more than 10 years now! Blows my mind :'D

P.S. I realise it says in the description that in 10 years or so I should try creating an orchestral version. I definitely still want to do that at some point. We'll see if that happens in 2025 though, or later :p

this is great!

Good piano music. It does sound a little too repetitive to my ears, but it's great.

I have to say: The album art looks really nice on the cd image.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I think that this indeed does sound repetitive, as the style and rhythm never changes. The same melody is not played many times though, and the few times it is, it's played in different keys. It's good that the art fits the format :D
Thanks again for reviewing :3
Plan on submitting something in the near future yourself? :)

Ale, I haven't reviewed one of your pieces in a year! :O Seriously, though, arpeggio nightmare?! No, this is beautiful! I love the tranquility and the progression. The emotion is fantastic, and as always it's very flow-y and majestic. I love how you create contrast with the more punchy sound at 1:59. Sufficiently varied, well-structured, and smooth-flowing, I don't hesitate to call this my favorite piece of 2015 from you so far! ;) Ahh...there go my beginning-of-the-year jokes again. Anyway, keep up the great work, my friend! Looking forward to the orchestral version you make of this in 2025, btw. Remember - you promised! XD

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I've been waiting this entire year from one of your reviews! Finally I got one; I was almost getting worried XD

The arpeggio nightmare part was solely intended as an inside joke between me and LunacyEcho (there are in fact a ton of arpeggios of differing kinds in this track). It really pleases me to see you consider this piece to be beautiful, as it's a very cherished composition of mine. This is a piece I'm really emotionally invested in while playing, if I'm not always.

1:56 - 2:20 is quite possibly my favorite section of music I've ever created. It seems simple, but I feel as though the melody, chords and arrangement of that part hold a lot of power in it.

This is among my three favorite pieces from 2013, actually. Two of which are yet to be uploaded! The thing is, they are so difficult to play without mistakes that I've been too lazy to make proper recordings. I'm intindending on changing that soon though (I'll probably cheat a bit by editing the few mistakes that'll appear in the MIDI files)!

Thanks!
I've promised nothing!!! But I will make one, eventually. Unless I die or something D:
Now see what you made me think of :'(

Anyhow... Can't wait to see what you'll upload this year (when you get a bit of free time, especially) :D

Really beautiful, keep up the good work!

Well done getting on the front page man!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Hey, it's been a while since I heard from you :D
Thanks for checking out this track :3
