This should be the very last song I'll upload while still being in the army, as I currently have 4 days left. I think I might just be able to make it through...

About the song though, it kinda sucks.
It was just an experiment I remember recording sometime in early 2013. The instruments sound kinda crappy, are off sync, are played poorly (on my synth, ofc), and much much more!
As per usual, the name doesn't entirely (or at all) fit the song. I think I came up with a name on beforehand, and totally failed to match it with a fitting composition ;)
I like how after a while the song transforms into what - to me - sounds like the background music to a Russian military propaganda video or something :p

Anyhow. I should be able to start posting new (better) things again soon, as soon as I get started with all my projects again :D (Which should be after Christmas and possibly New Year too, but still soon!)

'Til then, have a Merry Christmas XD

The mood was well-established and heroic and fun, but the poor instrument quality somewhat detracted from that experience. I'm sure you have better instruments now than you did when you made this (right?), so I'll let it slide. ;P Otherwise, I really like the melodies and transitions and harmonies and structure. I like how it transitions from a glorious fanfare-type thing to a depressing fugue around 1:30, then it gradually brightens again. Some of the chords threw me off a bit, like the one at 2:07 that didn't even really correspond to the previous rhythmic pattern. If I didn't know you better, I'd say it sounded like a mistake. 0_O Despite my criticisms, pretty solid work here! Keep at it, LSD! Also, did you get my PM from a week or two ago? :3

The poor instrument quality sucks indeed. I think this is the last song I'll submit that sounds like this though. I'm back in action, and I think I've uploaded almost all of my older pieces, except for a few that I might just remake for fun :3
I'm not promising not to upload horrible tracks in the future though XD
I actually think the melodies are pretty decent in this song, and the transitions are fine, albeit a bit drastic.

It's interesting that you think the chord sounds off at 2:07. It's the exact same chord as in 1:53, used in the very same chord progression too :p I think it's the poor instrument quality that once again causes the part to sound slightly queer.

Thanks for yet another review!!

And yes, I read your message long ago :')
I've just failed at writing a response. As I said... These are busy times... Not for long though. I'll hopefully have a response up in a few days :'D

Pretty good, I'd say. It's a little off when it comes to rhythm sometimes, but even that still has appeal. In my opinion, it sounds like a zelda-esque piece put through a distortion. This distortion being not of sound, but of concept, turning the youthful tale of a hero into a tale of loss, anger, and resolve. (Not necessarily in that order, either.)
Zelda-esque meaning old Zelda. Figured I needed to point that out as newer Zelda orchestrations seem to pull off those latter vibes as well.

ANYWAY, I enjoyed it.

Thanks! It's definitely off when it comes to rhythm, you're right in that :p
I can kinda see your Zelda comparison. This is a pretty dark song, at least in my opinion. There are some parts of heroism, but it's always shaded by heavier tones.

How have you been doing lately? Haven't heard from you since your latest newspost :3

The melody is all there; you just need better synths and mixing ^^

Good luck with your last few days in the army!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Yeah, I guess. The melody is not that bad :p
I don't think I'm going to remake this, but who knows?

Thanks! It'll be great to have all that over with. Let's just hope that no wars are on their way :p
