Ancient Resentment

Okay. We're back in 2013, and an early point at that.
This is just a weird experiment with my electronic piano (Yamaha CLP -230) that I made lazily. I'm still going to upload it though!!! (No one is gonna stop me D:<).

The name has next to naught to do with what the song sounds like, but everything to do with under the circumstances it was composed!

You see, I have a neighbor that doesn't like the hacking sound that is made when I play the keys (we have paper thin walls, and the sound travels to his apartment). Almost the entire time while I was composing this - what could it have been... One and a half hour maybe? - he was now and then banging with his cane on the roof (our floor). That was quite irritating (this was in the middle of the day, and I have all the right in the world to play my piano), so I thought of a way to name the piece after him. Old Angry Man thus turned into Ancient Resentment.

Whoops! I'm in a hurry again -_-
Gtg, cya.

Was this inspired by FF? I love songs that have that vibe now.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

You found some really old stuff huh? xD
I actually don't think this was, for once, but I totally get what you mean!

Cool! I like the instruments in this one. It's pretty upbeat, which is strange based on the title and theme apparently surrounding the piece. Might be good for a videogame menu or something. You should've made it loop! Anyway, not much more to add...looking forward to more of your 2014/2015 pieces. ;D

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Hi! Sorry for the late response, these are busy times...
Well, as I mentioned, the title and the piece have little in common :p
Oh my, maybe I should've made it loop XD
I'm looking forward to my future pieces too, as well as yours!

Nice. Great mood! As usual, you have some really awesome, feeling-invoking chord progressions. Still can't believe you have the capacity to memorize them, even if you spend an hour and a half on them!

Unusually for you, the instruments you use here feel like they lack a bit of your usual punch. Also, rhythmic variation! Triplets get boring.

As for the guy below me, i have no idea why he did that because a.) you're allowed to use other melodies as long as you rearrange them, and b.) you're not supposed to zero-star stuff like that. I suggest reporting him.

Great song! The army is slowly coming to an end...

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks, as usual, for reviewing even this kind of old crap XD

Well, the memorizing part is mostly subconscious, which makes it a lot easier. As for the chord progressions, I think they actually are pretty cool, but this is a really short song and still the chords are a bit repetitive :'D

I definitely agree that the intruments lack punchiness! Maybe I was subconsciously trying to stay calm while recording while my neighbor definitely wasn't (that, or poor intrument choice :p).

As for the guy below me, I don't have the heart to report him, as he gave D-Pression a 5 star review ;)

Still, I agree that that review sucks and is totally unnecessary...
Maybe he had a bad day?
