I made this song because absoluteDETH ( wanted me to make a short 16 second loop for a project of his.
He wanted something caustic, with a discordant piano and an abrasive, pipey but sluggish violin on top.
Well, I didn't have much time, so I kind of disregarded the description of the request a bit, and imagined the subject of the project instead; an eye that opens and shows a universe of surrealism and shapes before closing once again (I imagined big eyes full of hope and wonder). I worked around that image, and accidentally inserted a bit of heroism in the strings. People who've played Okami might notice a slight resemblance between the latter part of this piece and a composition from the game.
I know the percussion sucks, but I really didn't have time to think about it at all (I hate the army; the army sucks).

However, as I kind of figured, this piece doesn't fit the project. I'll have to try again sometime when I have a bit more time, and make sure to follow the request this time, and make something more dissonant and mysterious :p
(He might use this short composition for something else though, so it didn't completely fail).

Oh, and that cover art doesn't fit the piece at all, but you should know me by now; my titles, genres, pieces, and images don't always fit together that well...

Hearing this loop now for 30 seconds and all my anger, fear and pain seems forgotten. Like vanished. It calms me down that much, like a warming therapy of musical harmony. Thank you for it and not many creators get this job that excellently done like you. You have my respect. P.S.: It will serve forever as ringtone on my phones.

Oh wow, I didn't expect anyone to find this loop among my many tracks! I'm glad that you did though, and that it helped in your calming down :)
I find that music has a lot of therapeutic value!

Thanks a million for listening to this, and for liking it to the extent that you'll use it as a ringtone; I'm honored! :O

Woah, this is just cool. Mysterious and ethereal. Awesome for a 16-second loop. I'd love to hear a full length composition build around this.

Thanks! You know, many people say they want my short loops to be made into longer compositions. I guess I'll have to make those wishes into a reality someday XD

Okay, I love the atmosphere and instruments and chord progression. It has an interesting sense of mystery and wonder to it, yet also a mechanical feel with the percussion. It's as if a child was able to take a one-way trip to Santa's workshop. 0_O Loops well, too! Great job LSD! ^^

Thanks TD6!
I can see what you mean about the kid in Santa's workshop :D
I didn't have time to respond to your message yesterday (friends came over, we partied, got drunk, went to a pub, got even more drunk XD).
However, I'm doing it now, live, so expect it within the hour ;)

Even for such a short piece, it has a great chord progression (heroic, as you mentioned). Indeed it may not fit its actual purpose but it still sounds great!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks for the kind words! I used a pretty standard heroic chord progression; it's not the only time I've used something similar :p
I'm glad you think this sounds great :D!

I'm not sure whether this is what absoluteDETH was going for, but this really is very nicely done. It's probably my favorite loop from you thus far. :)

I actually like the percussion a lot! I enjoy tons of reverb (more and more lately, it seems), and those bouncy, jumpy sounds add a lot to the mood.

I'm actually pretty scared of eyes. :D I once screamed when a teacher showed an enlarged picture of an eye on a projector. Even so, the picture you used is pretty hypnotic, especially when turning visualizations off...

Thanks LunacyEcho! I always love reading your reviews; they're so full of spirit!
I think this is my favorite loop by myself so far as well (although "Unimailma" just might beat it).

I'm actually surprised you like the percussion (^O,O^)
I love tons of reverb. I almost always find myself saying... MOAR! MOAR REVBREV!
What can I say, I like bouncy sounds? I think that's why I chose that particular vst and threw something in quickly XD
I still don't really like the percussion myself though...

Eyes can be pretty creepy! My cat scares me sometimes at night...
That rolling eye is a bit hypnotic indeed. It bothers me that I didn't center the pupil better, since the hole in the "cd" cuts it off weirdly :P
