Electronic - Chipstep

Author Comments

Good god this was a slow month... I literally couldn't come up with anything to make. I just had no ideas or motivation whatsoever, that kind of situation always makes me feel shitty without fail.

lol anyway... I was suddenly inspired to make some chiptune and this is what I came up with! I know it isn't exactly "chiptune" with the damp and clean sounds but I didn't want to create a traditional dry 8-bit chiptune track because that seemed a little boring to me. I wanted to make something with an arcade feel to it but also sound grand and speedy at the same time.

It didn't too long to make but it was fun to work on! Plus it's good to finally get something out there after a month of inactivity Dx.

This song is amazing! It's very catchy and has great melodies. The synths remind me of some of my favorite video games.

Are you auditioning for NGADM? I think this song or Cloud City would be your best choices.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I tried going for an old arcade style sound when making this so maybe that's why some of the synths gave you that vibe :].

Somebody else asked me this on another song xP. Uhm... I'm not sure exactly. I managed to get through the auditions last year but something tells me I wont be so lucky this year. I'll probably audition soon enough since I have nothing to loose. You've given me a good idea what I should audition if I decide to though. Thanks!

I hope to see you enter this year as well!

The only flaw with this piece is that the snare is lacking in power.
Everything else is pretty much perfect.

DuttonsaysHi responds:

Is it? I had to lower the volume on the snare since it was so compressed and punchy, any louder and it would be piercing to the ears (to my ears anyway). It made listening to the song uncomfortable every time the snare hit.

I guess it really depends on the listener but I think it still does its job. Thanks!
