This is pretty awesome, for this to be raw now is kinda shocking to me. it sounds great. its very relaxing and mellow. thats my favorite kinda vibe really. far more appealing and original if i say so myself.
I think if you added anything to this it would get too busy and become really unattractive. as for sound quality i'm sorry dude i can't really help you there.

recording guitar

Recording is just really expensive. I'd say you'd wanna double track (with different mics if you've got them) most of the guitar parts it's all about layering with like a low/mid/high track to really have a big full tone. Also experimentation with different mic positions can have a big impact on tone. Nice translation

I've never heard this song remixed before, but if I had, that would definitely be up there with the best! Very creative take on the original.
BTW I wrote that string quartet... But then I added a bunch more strings into it... and a piano.
It's still good though ~_^
